  1. quick guess would be laurel roof brackets mounted backwards. but I am suffering from cranialrectumimplantus vision lately, so don't mind me.

By front end, do you mean the front suspension or the grill shell?

The front suspension looks like a T axle with a front mounted spring to lower it down.

The grill shell looks to be a modified Whippet.

But... I could be completely wrong.

You know, I never have really liked T's, but, I wouldn't mind having one of these early styled race'ers.

A friend in Martinsville Indiana its approx 7 ich drop with laurel brackets relocating the spring as well, drops the car almost a foot. We will z the rear to match.
I run one of these axles on my "simple T' in another post here..

  12. Love the drop- looks like you may be investing it T pans, though!!!

I am rebuilding my T speedster I originally restored it in the 70's. I want to drop the rear about 8 inches without z' ing the frame. I have a moore gearbox mounted to the rear end and rocky mountain brakes so moving the rear spring would be hard to do. I have been trying to find a spring without the center kick up but no luck . I reversed the eyes on the front spring and put the dropped front axl, twhen I figure out how to post picts I'll start with some old and rebuild picts. I posted the picts in the album.

Wow those speedster T's are so cool. The minimalist thing appeals to me also. I remember seeing some on their run in Clayton back in the 70's. Looks like one would be fun. They seem to have much better ergonomics and look more comfortable than a T bucket. I think you could build one out of a modern Speedway t kit, use a late ford 4 and put together a fast safe, economical, ride. Does anyone like cyclecars?

I like these old speedster bodies.

Maybe I should put this old "hot rod" model T engine in something like that instead of the old pickup body that I have.

BTTT, anyone have a drawing or some sort of how to for a simple body like these? I saw the Rootlieb style, but seems a bit pricey for something you could build yourself.

  29. Top speed depends on the engine mods and how much gear you can stuff in it. My speedster ran a '27 block, Model A crank and rods drilled for pressure oiling, EGGE 8.5:1 pistons, winfield cam, one of Jim Culbert's Rajo copy aluminum overhead's, Scat VW distributor, and a side draft 48 Weber carb. I had a Ruxtel rear end, and a Studebaker overdrive in it. Basically a six speed. In '86 I was racing Ed Archer in his Rajo T racer back to the finish of the Santa Clara Annual Speedster endurance run, and once I got up into high overdrive, pulled aray from him. A guy in a Vette pulled along side, and flashed 8 fingers, so I assume it would run at least 80mph.

Like anything else. How fast you want to go depends on how much you want to spend. Build one with a stock T engine and drive train, and you'll be lucky to see much over 45mph.

Found this and remembered this thread.

This is my favourite style T Speedster. 'Bobtail', nice and clean at the back, just the tank with the dif and spring the feature. Definitely my next project.
