Technical Model T steering wheel

I just picked up this T steering wheel that I am gonna adapt to my roadster. I am gonna pull it apart and have the spokes powder coated but not sure about the rim...what is it made of. Feels kinda like really hard rubber but not sure....can anyone tell me what the rim is made of....thanks Ron
