OK its about time i did a build thread ive been a lurker long enough. I started building this 28/29 modified about 6 years ago. Chassie unknown (if any one knows pleas do tell) engine 99a merc flathead front end 36 suisided 6 inches rear end 36 A model spring over body 28/29 with fabricated back section This car is to be built to complie with Austrailian vic road standards ( pain in the ASS) it has had its fist inspectin and passed the car will be inspected again when finished. I have alot of pics to put up and will take me some
Vic engineering regulation demand a 100mm or 4 inch over lap of of new material added and for fish plates
bottom center of cross member is removable and top centre of cross member becomes catch tube for drive shaft and mount for gear lever (pics to come)
Put body back on and start to mack up rear section of cab i used original B pillers and made two press dies to copy the top and bottom body lines.
Nice work mate, looking forward to seeing it at Chopped this year You`ll get there, when you get there, but get there soon ! Keep up the fine work.
Is that a model 'a' rear? I like the curve of the kickup at the rear, i might have to copy that some day. That little kickout from your frame jig looks very handy, i can see a couple of those cropping up on mine. Not that we are being critical, but since you have now posted a build thread we expect you to pick up the pace a little. We have short attention spans and kinda go from one bright shiney object to the next - if you catch my drift. Happy Fathers' Day, oj
Some very fine work there! Can't wait to see it on the road. Between you and Woodbox the bar is getting higher. Nice fab work. My build thread... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7814107#post7814107
This was my 1st idea for a gear shift and hand brake but thing change and i got rid of the small adjustable shifter and left the large valve handle as the the gear shifter. the tank strap latches came of a 90 year old soap press were i used to work they are solid brass and nickle plated.
Rear shock came of a dodge or chev not sure they were on amates farm and free still full of oil and working.
The a pillers on this body were gone when i got it Broken off in the nomal places A,s break i found these posts at a swap meet for $20 i Yhink There 1927 Chev a bit of cutting and they fitted ok.
I found this at a locaL SWAP MEET 1920'S cotton motor bike crank case side. The bloke nearly cried when i tolled him i was going to cut it up, and use it for a air cleaner cover.
I have two kids one boy one girl the bloke i started him on cars young and spends most days in the shed with me. and just some more random shots.
Bit low cut 2 inches out of front perch sit good now Head light not sure another swap meet find the bloke i bought them of told me they are early ford prefect. started on cowl steering, bow it VW i think fit well and works well.
Started on the motor 99A merc sorry no pics of pull down motor was sitting in a shed for 20 od years with the heads off seized but dry and still full of oil. i taped the bolt holes in the heads and made some blocks to bolt to the head, clamped the head down and machined them flat, tuned the head over made a fly cutter and macined 10thou of the heads to just clean up. Motor will be stock for now untill i get the car up and running i have another block i will try and get a bit more power out of.
