Been awhile, huh?! I think some of you even think I dropped off the planet! HAHA! Truth of the matter, I've been VERY VERY busy. I've got a ton done, but it doesn't feel like I've really made a dent. Long hours, dirty days, black boogers and even fighting through migrains and an upper respiritory infection, the work continued. I really wish this car was done already. People always ask me, "Are you going to go to such and such's open house, BBQ, car show, or whatever" and I always feel bad saying "No, I'm workin' today" because I really miss hangin' out and kickin' it with good car folk, and relaxin'. I'm just sick of not having the car done so I can bring it, so I'll just have to keep at it...

Ever feel like you're just not ready to show people what you've been doing? I'm sort of in that frame of mind, so I'm only going to show you some teaser shots.

    Here you go...

I hate alternators, but I'm out of room, so I had to run one.

    No more WHEEL WELLS!!!

The Hemi runs, the pedals work, the steering is almost done, a butt load of body work has been done, but STILL... I don't feel like I've even made a dent in what needs to be done!

That's all for now. You're just going to have to wait for the rest.

OH! There are ton of people I need to send thank you's to, but I need to put a special one out there to "the Brudwich"! These guys have been helping me with tooling stuff to help keep the fabrication going. What a huge help that's been! You guys have no idea! A big one out to Mark (if you're readin), as well, for doing such good things with the shop and allowing me to use the space! Very greatful!

Only a couple more because really, if it weren't for The Brudwich I couldn't have made this cowl structure. They allowed me access to their tubing bender, and MAN it really has made life easier! It's greatly reinforced now and there will be more reinforcements once it's welded in the car...

I've spent a little too much time on gussets as well...

Nice photos, I like the black and white touch.

First rate work, I hope some of the guys who are prone to cut corners take close notice and see how it should be done to build a slick and safe car that actually can be driven.

looking good buddy, the wheel well patches are spot on.

    you driving it to Mooneyes? . . . . . haha

  14. It's worth the time it's taking, you are doing such a neat job. What kind of alternator is that, early Mopar? I know they have had alternators since '59 or so.

I was wondering what you were doing on this car. It looks incredible. Also, I didn't realize you were as good at taking photographs as you are building cars.

WOW! Thanks everyone! You guys rule!

Yeah, hopefully spring. Let's cross our fingers! Paint will follow shortly after and if all goes well I'm hoping for April completion.

I couldn't find a low mount, drivers side alternator bracket, so I made one. TOOK FOREVER!

The pedals are early V8 something or another that my friend Kendra wasn't using. Thanks Kendra!! I cut 'em up a little.

DRIP RAILS! Yes! I need some! It will definitely have drip rails. I will have them made, make them or something. I saw a good post on here in the Tech Section on making some. maybe I'll give it a try or maybe I can find someone who's making them. I don't want aluminum rails. I really want steel.

Yep! Early Mopar. Not sure what year or model had the single groove pulley, but they were pretty much the same from the late 50's with the exception of the pulley and maybe the overall output. I just couldn't cram a generator in there. I would have rather used the early generator I had, but what's a guy to do.

DUDE! Thank you for keeping me motivated! That little "sit down" you had with me, via "electronic nerd-box" helped!

I have a full time day job and then I moonlight for a couple side clients to fund hot rod parts and I have to tell you, it gets pretty difficult sometimes. Late nights, scheduling my time, lack of sleep, GALLONS of coffee, staying healthy, lots of music, and just the pushing through all the B.S. is the only way it happens. I'm not going to mention how tired I am right now, nor am I going to comment on my mental well-being. HAHA!

Thanks for all your nice words everyone! It's appreciated! Just wish I had a finished car to show you guys. I haven't really wanted to show it because it's hard to tell people what I have planned without getting out a sketch pad or something. I have a vision, but it's really hard to put it into words or really down on paper, for that matter. Just have to keep grinding and cutting.

    So much to do...

Your car is looking great, man! You should be very happy with what you've accomplished so far - thanks for the update! Great craftsmanship and vision...

It can be hard to keep a good 'balance' in life, trust me, I know. This is as good of a place, as any, to capture a good support structure and meet some great people. Keep up the good work, but don't completely wear yourself out. Gotta 'stop and smell the roses' once in a while!

  24. Well done Scooter.

I really like the stuff done by owners.

    Some clever thinking there.

    I'm proud of ya . . . sniff, sniff....

Nice lookin setup Scooter! I've been working on my steering, pedals and column assembly too. The similarities of what you have built compared to what I am building is mind blowing. Now I know I'm on the right track :D. I'll post progress pic's soon so you can see what I mean.
