    Thanks man!

The back end is going to come up about a half an inch I think. I think it sits too ***-low. The 4-links are not parallel to the ground anymore either, now that the weight is pretty much all there. Battery and gas tank will make even more of a difference probably. Droopy-rear'd hot rods sort of bug me. I would like it to sit pretty level or maybe even raked about a 1-degree or so. It will be easier to tell once the wheel well panels are in place.

    How's that Hemi coming???

Slow, have not gotten to the motor yet, just collecting various parts. Right now I'm sorta where you are- Ch***is Fab and Math. God I hate math...

I'll be posting a MEGA build thread pretty soon. I literally have over 400 pics of the build, but I want to wait til the body is on. :D

    Your car rules.

i'll have to snap some...the wheel wells are filled just not right..they left the bead that goes over the top of the fender and no bead on the bottom..Kinda funky..I saw in another post you narrowed the back part when it went forward..The guy that did this didn't do that..What was your reasoning behind that? This ones probably not right, he DID braze the chop back together:eek:

The body was 1-1/8" or so too wide for the door jams to line up correctly. So I cut the 1-1/8" out. Lined right up. The C pillars were at a different angle than the B pillars to mate up also, so I had to make some adjustments. Your cab appears to be very similar to mine with the exception of the front window posts. Not sure why yours would have been any different in the rear section. Interesting. Maybe the front and back halves were forced together??

Is that a 28 or 29 Murray?? That might have something to do with it. Also, I just noticed your quarter windows are smaller too. The S/W body style had the large rear quarter windows that roll down.

That looks GREAT! You should post that picture up in photobucket so you can post it on here. I noticed you left the rear corner and worked around it also... HMMMM... you making me think more about doing that. Sure would be a lot easier to shape. Tell me more about how you formed the filler panel for that wheel well. Shoot me some more pictures if you can. Email is scootermcrad@yahoo.com

Man... all these Murrays coming out of the woodwork! Cool!

Thanks dirt! Going to breakfast on Saturday??

The guy said it started as a 31 victoria town sedan? Not sure I'm more of a custom guy this will be my first hotrod. Don't know a whole lot about all the different bodies.

Hmmm... Victorias and Town Sedans were two different models all together. If the top of your cowl is not removable (which it doesn't appear to be) then it's not a 31 either. Yours looks like an earlier Model A Town Sedan. 28 or 29 to me. None of the Murray Town Sedans had a stepped cowl like the other Model A's of that year. I would like to see some more pictures of that body you have. Post 'em up!

Looks to me like your body started out as the same year as mosimpson's sedan:

Like I said- I have no idea! He told me it was a 31, but the cowl top isn't removeable. I'll take some more pictures and try to get to the bottom of this. A buddy of mine told me he didn't think it was a 31 either, but didn't know what it was. All I know is its at the top of the list as soon as I sell my shoebox. Yours is very cool btw.

Scott, The hood was shipped this afternoon, 6/26/08, day late sorry to slow down progress. Did the 30-31 Murray bodies have this logo on the lower cowl corner. Took this of an A in a local junk yard over 40 years ago!

    Hey Scooter,

I've been getting myself moved out to New Mexico. Haven't spent hardly any time on my project since last Summer. In the next couple of months I'll be getting cranked up again and I can't wait. Your progress photos have got me itching to fire up the ole MIG again.

Keep them coming!

    Scooter,

That is one of my 3 favorite frames on the HAMB. Very nice. Can you share any details about the parts you used at the back end of the front bones, on the bones and frame both?

    Thanks in advance!

DRuss32, I'm starting in on those brakes in a few weeks. Thanks for the pointers!

    Thanks scotty!!

Okay, I can't remember exactly what year the bones themselves are, ('46 comes to mind for some reason) but I purchased the weld-in bungs from SoCal and the rod-ends are just standard rod ends with the tapered shaft and castle nut. I didn't have the appropriate tapered reamer so I just purchased the mating weld-in bung from Speedway for cheaper than what I could make it for. The frame was notched to locate the rod end in a manner that would give me the caster angle I wanted. A piece of thick walled 1-1/2" tubing was cut in half lenth wise and welded into the notch. The weld-in mating bung was welded into a plate and then welded to the side of the frame where the notch was located. Then the bung was welded solid into the notch from the back side (so I could get some nice fillet welds in there). Then part of the tube that was cut away was welded to the top of the bung, mostly just for looks to blend it in with the frame better. It was left open for the time being to figure out how I'm going to get a cotter pin in there. Haven't finished that portion of the notch and mating bung, so it looks like poop. Can't believe I'm even going to show you these actually...

Before the notch (bung sitting too high)...

The **** you see to the rear (left in the picture) of the notch is weld from the piece of 1x2 I trimmed back for the body and the notch. Just needs to be cleaned up and smoothed out.

AGAIN! Not finished with this part! It's coming up on the list of things to do though...

I have some ideas on how to finish all this up and insure it's strong, but just haven't got to it. You will see some nifty gusseting and access holes to get the pin in place.

Is that what you were asking about ,Scotty, or was I way off on another subject?

Okay... now that I'm looking at these pictures I'm really annoyed that these aren't finished!! Can't wait to finish EVERYTHING on this frame for that matter.

You guys are going to see some serious progress photos soon...

That's what I was after. Thanks! I ordered my hard parts last night and should get a chance to install it all when I take a couple of weeks off in August. Keep it up.
