    Scooter,
What are you going to do for a gas tank?

Okay man... here's the best I have without a wide angle. Car sorta looks weird and empty up front without the engine sitting in there and the grille shell mocked up.

You can really see how much lower the back is after flipping the eyes on that spring in this picture. Frame modifications coming up in the next jam session.

I'll be runnin' a mooneyes tank back there, right below the window. Probably about a 14 gallon. Should fill the void nicely. I have some other ideas for possible tanks also, but nothing solid yet.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. Just hope it looks like my vision. So far pretty close, but still a long ways to go.

Miss you too bro! Hope you and the lady can stop by sometime I'm in town! Would be good to see ya' man! Hope the truck is still rockin! :)

So a couple people were asking me about line drawings I'd done for the car and thought I would dig this up just for fun. This was one of the closer concept drawings I did for the car. Few things are completely inaccurate and I won't be quick to point them out, but it's fun to compare the sketch to how things are taking shape at this point. I actually have a ton of line drawings for this car sketching out lots of details of the car. I will put them together some day for you guys to see. Pretty funny!

Yep! It's going to be *** cheek to *** cheek in there! LOL! The nice thing is this body is a little wider at the doors than a coupe. Not by much, but maybe a couple inches. I'll take what I can get. This picture should give you an idea of how much height we're talkin...

It BETTER be down here by then! LOL! Come check it out. No problem!

Thanks ynotta!! I'll keep them comin... WISH I could work on it this weekend. :( Too much going on and too many a-hole drivers on the road from here to Vegas over the holiday weekend. It will be nasty traffic! I'm SUPER anxious to get more done! Probably go up next weekend.

I need to get the spring together right, get the kickup adjusted accordingly (cut and reweld the miter cut on the Z-d portion), address front ride height get 700 pounds worth of stuff to figure out what's going to happen when I drop the Hemi in. If I can get the ride height situatated I can make engine and ****** mounts! Then all that will be left is getting that body mounted and subfloor together...

I'll just keep crossing stuff off the list until it's done... one task at a time. (sigh)

Really like your taste. Good lines. Way to make something from a car that otherwise would have gone to the wayside.

thanks for the picks i have a ? though i plan on buildin something like this in the next few months . when you started the frame how did you plan the ride height my plan is to take 2 or 3 rail road ties put a peice of plywood on top lay my frame out and start from there my plans is that the little table i am laying the frame on will be ride height so do i just set up my rear and front suspension as is.. then when i take it off the table it may sink an inch or 2 . i hope my ride height will be around 8 inches any help will be nice thanks

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Took a break from the internet for a few days...

I planned my ride height around my scrub line for starters. I figured if I blew a tire I would still be good at 5 inches or better without hitting frame. The frame is my lowest point. NOTHING will hang down lower than the frame rails. Not supposed to think practical things like this when building hot rods, but since I was starting from scratch, I figured I might as well be smart about it.

Setting up the springs was the biggest mystery to me since there is very little info out there regarding how much these particular leaf springs compress other than what people say off of their own experiences. Posies helped a little when selecting a spring, but there was still some play in the numbers. WISH there was something that was dead on that a person could follow, but haven't found anything to date that surrounds our applications to the tee... Anyway, keeping in mind that your shackles need to be at 45-degrees with the full weight on the car is a good place to start. You can work backwards from there. Sketch things out on paper and know the dimensions of your springs MOUNTED that you plan to use and try to get an idea of how much they will flatten out. The actual "guide" numbers are talked about in a few threads. I think they were something like, plan for and 1-1/2" of settle, plus the drop from the shackles moving out to 45-degrees (approx 1.06-inches). From there figure out the height of the crossmember, kick-up, etc.. This is my nutshell explanation. Have heard it explained better... LOL!

Speaking of ride height... had a thought on the front ride height. It's sitting around 4-1/2 or something up front right now. If I get the HD non-reversed main leaf from Posies for that front spring, it would raise it up an 1-1/2 or so and I wouldn't have to do anything to the front crossmember and/or perches. Here we go again... playin' around with spring eyes again! LOL! Probably solves the problem though. I can't go higher with the perch mounts because the spring main leaf will have to be shorter to make it happen. I'm at least going to inquire with Posies about it. I really want to run this cross member if I can. I'm pretty fond of it.

LOL! The Triumph is gone... :( Well... sort of. I have another pre-unit frame that is itchin' to be built! BIG plans for this one! A more traditional styled bike this time. :) Will take awhile, but dreaming is good... right??  Have some parts to get rid of from the old build so I can get new stuff for the new build.

I need to get a third job.

Leaving for Vegas after work. Yet another weekend thrash! I expect this one to be super productive! The Brudwich will be by again to help out and provide some tooling to get the job done...

First on the list is to get that engine and trans mounted any ol' way possible so I can make engine mounts. Then it needs a firewall and body mounts. If I can get those four things done, it will be ready for the trailor next week! :D YEAH!!

Thanks man! Can't wait to get on the road so can get more work done! I'm very tempted to actually start working when I get there, even though it will be late. We'll see how I feel after the drive.

Will be nice to reunite with a few people over the weekend as well! :)

Oh wow! I've been away from the internet for a few days.

    This is the latest thread:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=217621&highlight=modified+murray

No updates. It's down here in HB and with all the rushing to get it down here, I almost lost sight of what I was doing. I'm taking time to stare, plan and do some sketching. I've got some new ideas and am going to change direction on a couple things as well. Working space has DEFINITELY decreased! Just a new challenge to overcome... All good!! :D Just slows the pace up to pay more attention to details...

    Here's how it sits now

silly question but with transverse springs you don't need a locater bar for later axle movement do you?
(i mean a watts link, or panhard bar, or even sway bars)

YES! I'm pretty sure I will have to run panhard bar. It's going to be a little tricky with the spring ahead of the axle, but I'll figure something out.
