This is a 56 Corvette A/MP from the Salt Lake City area .Campaigned in the early 70s by Otto Therkelson . Did good wheel stands , Local hero. Converted to Pro Street in the 90s .
Wow, this thread brought back memories. I ran a 64 Chevelle in D/MP at Island Dragway in Jersey back in early 70s. Had a 332 bored small block, M21 4 speed, 12 bolt 4:56 gears. The tunnel ram and carbs came off Van Iderstein's record holder 55 chevy. Left the 7 and 8 cylinders on the track one afternoon, then went to C/G with a tilt nose 56 chevy.
Cool! I remember those days of the early-1970s well but was too young to race. Modified Eliminator was my favorite category back then. By the time I got my drivers license and had saved enough money to buy a car, bracket racing was in full swing on the local level. Pete
Ran my 55 Chevy in E/G at Island in 1971. 301 cu. in., Racer Brown roller tunnel ran with two 660 Holleys. Never ran right, we would hang around with the local guys that ran Modified. That is why we built one, eventually ran brackets with it as shown in my avatar.
Any pics of your '56, we bought one a few months back that ran out of Jersey and ended up in California.
