Stumbled upon this footage, thought I'd share. Sorry if it's been posted before. http://www.thoughtequity.com/video/clip/331740_007.do
Cool! I've never seen that before. I also hate to admit this, but I have never seen these cars run on a circle track before, at least the narrowed versions that we think of as "modifieds". I have always seen them in the context of dry lakes racing, not going around turns. Is this footage from the East maybe? I didn't see anything that would suggest where it was.
That makes me want to build one but I'm not sure I have the balls to drive it like that! Sent from my POS phone.
I think this is the first time I've actually seen roadsters like this live, in their natural environment. The wild motion is beyond belief! That being said, we still need somebody to do high-res screenshots of each of those cars.
Best footage I've seen in months..Didnt know they ran lakes modifieds on the tracks except for Jeffries Ranch...
Those are not "Lakes Modifieds" those are dirt track roadsters in their natural form. Like they raced them every weekend. The lakes stuff just came around a few weeks a year. Outside of the speed trials, these cars raced on bullrings weekly.
Maybe "Lakes Modified" is the wrong term that we've been using for many years. I have been collecting photos of "modifieds" for years and have only one pic that is not on a dry lakes setting. I always thought there was a strong connection to the "track cars" and "lakes cars". Just haven't seen it in photos or footage like this one. One of the cars in the footage is the Ralph Schenk modified at 52 seconds into the film. Lots of pics of that car at the lakes...
