I've had these valve covers for a number of years and never knew why someone would install a tube where they did. I've searched here and via Google but haven't found a good answer that tells me why this might have been done. Is this an old circle track mod? Sprint Car? ??
Yes sir... Many if not most (at least at one time), put the breather tubes in their rocker covers in the front as you have them. This way they would normally connect both sides and install two breathers in the "U" shaped piece that connected the rocker covers. This allows low hood heights...yes the carburetor is above the hood ! Here's one similar - Mike
It was a modification used on plenty of high winding drag cars too, the catch can helped contain the oil.
Thanks for the info, I took them off the wall, (they've been garage art for the past decade or so,) and noticed they're Cal-Custom's made in Gardena California. They're polishing up nice too.
So are you using that engine right now? I can give it a nice home... Oh well I'm still a year or 3 away from needing 1. I ll wait for my 327 to be finished.
Keep your paws off the 427. I've got first dibbies on that one and the car that it belongs in if @DDDenny ever decides to part with it. Doug, I'm still saving up The problem is that whatever the price is, it's going to cost me half of everything I own!
From what he's said before, he likes 327s, and you want the big block (it wouldn't fit in the Whatever). So okay, 350/350 is okay with me. Then my set of Hilborns, and I'd be all set! Well I can dream can't I?
Okay so I can't red! It'll fit then, but it probly wood kil me... Some would say not much of a loss, however...
