It's now on my Favorite list.

 

This is my favorite. Will be my next project. One seated. NO wife, No pals, only me and the lonely road, a roaming engine heating my balls, birdshit on my head...

A few years back a popular pro street guy who was in all the magazines built a lil modified that is kill.His name is Mark Grimes.His car was in a few magazines.It was a silver one man modified.It had a narrowed 28/29 grill shell.It had something Roadhouse on the sides of the hood.It was also in an ad thatwas in a magazine that ran every month.Man this car is prolly my all time favorite.
Does some here remember it?Any got a picture of it?
I'll look tonight threw some mags to see if I can find it.

29ehv8....that silver modified made it on to goodguys t-shirt. I believe it was the 2002 Indy Goodguys event shirt but I digress...Scott Grimes is Mark Grimes [pro street magazine car guy] little brother. I had no idea he was into or even built a lakes modified! He's from right here in town but I haven't seen him in years. Short story about Scott:
We were pulled up beside each other's cars, B.S.ing in an Omaha parking lot. It was the night of the first spring cruise and we were waiting for more people to show up. He was driving his black 66-67 Fairlane GT and it had expired tags on it..
Cop pulls up and asks him "You want your expired license ticket here, now or later out on the street?"
Scott says "Out on the street" so the cop parks next to the parking lot exit to wait Scott out, knowing he can't legally give out a ticket on private property.....and waits.
We bullshitted until after it got dark and finally, the cop gets inpatient and leaves....what a DICK!..Scott got away with no ticket. That's been about 15 years ago and I haven't seen him since. Wish I knew that aluminum car was his.

 

sure more people around here have stories that are not as nice about their dealings with the Grimes'. I wondered where you were on this post. Where are photos of the one you built a few years back.

 

Ummm...it's Steve Grimes. He's from Columbus, Ohio. Not sure if he's related to the pro street guys. But He's built three really bitchin' modifieds. One was red and was Crosley powered. The Silver/Gray one had O'bannon's Roadhouse as a sponsor. I'll try to find a couple pics...Stitch

Now this may be a stupid ??, but I am learning so bare with me.. Whats with the different style rear ends such as the one Killer posted compared to say the one Zodoff posted or the one Pete posted which is what I usually see, and thought of doing??

Have you started on the replica? I would love to see pics under construction. That is a project that I have had in my mind lately.

 

this post is so kool that 29EHV8 and i decided to turn my rpu project into a modified....i'll keep ya'll posted on the progress!!! here is another one for ya'll not mine!!but i wish

 

wow,,,i've always liked that car...good luck with that project...if you need someone to build the body work i may know someone...he builds aluminum sprint and midget bodies from 20's-50's so im sure he could help out of you needed and couldnlt do it yourself
