so many cool ideas and do little time and money [IMG]...

I just sold a dam nice Fergeson front. They are made to tilt. I just didn't see any way to make it match up to my cowl with out hacking the shit out of it. Would be cool on a one man car tho.

You'd better get your butt in gear if your intending to build a modified with an Oliver grille. I think I'm going to smoke you on that one. Now if little brothers is going to have an Oliver grille you may get the jump on me. I'm figuring as long as Donzie's car isn't finished, your '47 chevy is disabled waiting for a chop job and engine work, that '55 Chevy is sitting in the shop, and your Scotty trailer hasn't had any attention for a couple of years I've got a cushion as far as time is concerned. Did I miss any other projects that require your attention? [IMG] [IMG]
Now I on the other hand am free to start building at a moments notice. Gotta go, I think I feel my nose starting to grow. [IMG]

KB, Just remembered the FnA, weren't you supposed to have that one done sometime last year? You're going to be a busy boy if you expect to get an Oliver grilled modified finished in this lifetime. [IMG] [IMG]

This is an Oliver tractor - picture the nose as a grille shell on a Model T.

I've always fancied the Farmall myself as a "poor man's Deuce shell."

Big Cheese, The Oliver tractor you posted is newer than the one we're refering to. the late 40's Oliver had THE grille as far as modifieds are concerned. I don't have a picture to post but they have been shown before so maybe someone can repost a picture of one. The Oliver shown is from the 50's.

Atch,
Re: your questions concerning my modified. Yes, the front radius rods are upside down, but not bent. The rear ones were considerably reworked, however, and have a pronounced "dog-leg" to make everything clear OK. Caster is way off at present -- but I've found an old-skool alignment guy who will bend the axle for me and restore caster. I'm thinkin' I can adjust camber just by turning the rod-ends. There's a good bit of thread to play with there. If you want more detailed pictures or information,
shoot me an e-mail to garrycarter@satx.rr.com.

The steering is one of the most important part of any car.
From the looks of the photo the steering arm may have been bent to clear the headlight. This has created a weak spot on the arm where it can bend more, or collapse, if put under stress. For safety sake steering components should never be bent, heated, or welded. Neat car, but I would be redoing the steering before I drove it. Maybe that's why it is on a trailer.

Here is a grille from an Oliver Model 60, circa 1941, that I've got hanging around. I think 1941 thru 44 are the cool looking ones.
