mmmmk, got a wide truck 9inch...35 wires dont fit over the drums...dont want to run spacers cause the rear end is already wide enough...would like to keep the wire wheels

Can I weld up the holes in a pair of smaller drums and re-drill them to 5x5.5, enlarge the center hole, and do the same with the backing plates to use on the 9in?

dont want to hear n e of this if you have to ask you probably shouldnt stuff either

A drum from an 8in will not fit the flange. The flange is too big so there is more to it than the studs. I tried some wires on my roadster once when the rear wheels were off. They went right on the 8in and the 1in wheel adapters. F-1 drums and backers may offer some advantage as they have a bit of a step like the forty drums.

if i'm not mistaken, trucks came with bigger drum brakes than cars. you might be able to find smaller brakes off of a 9'' car that would bolt right on.

Trucks did have larger drums. I have a few 9" laying around, I always sold the truck brakes to circle track/street stock guys who were required to run drums in the back at certain tracks, they all threw the car brakes away.
