I like it. Period. It flows with the lines of the car and isn't a tacky add-on. Olds probably had this design in mind until it was nixed by the government.

I ain't done though. I just wasted 15 minutes of my life scrolling thru this post looking for what I thought was obvious, that no one else mentioned...

How often do we "back up", as in go in reverse? Maybe 1/100th of the time we drive forwards? By my non-mathmetics degree rationale, of the tens of 1000's of people that may impale themselves on this, the possibility is decreased 10-fold. So, in 10,000, we're talking about maybe one person (who probably shouldn't be walking in the first place) injuring themselves? These fins are in the ass-end of the car. He didn't make pointy sharp-impaling objects into the front fenders now, did he?

If this car is parked at a show and some dumbass "walks" into, and impales him (or herself) onto the ass-end of this GIANT car, it's called "Darwinism". Look into it here:
