History Monkey see, monkey do

Why the FB discussion? Leave that out of this please.
Monkey-see monkey-do has been the way of all automotive history, in fact in all of human history. We are a successful species because we learn from others instead of starting from scratch with each birth.
There's no coincidence that cars from the same generation look alike, as do modified cars from the same generation. Occasionally we see innovations that are either successes or failures.
You might say cars are evolved more so than they are intelligently designed.
