Monoleaf drop springs from Performance Online Parts - anyone out there used these?

Trying to figure out how I want to drop my '58 Chevy Apache. I like the idea of staying with a I beam axle for a number of reasons, but that limits my choices to a front flip, a drop axle and/or drop springs.

I'm finding out that these '55-59 Chevy pickups are a little different animal from others out there.

If I understand correctly, Front axle flips and drop axles with these trucks both tend to leave suspension parts hanging down below the scrub line (not something I am willing to do).

I've found products from Performace Online Parts (E-pay) offering multi-leaf set ups with a 2.5" drop, or 3"ish drop mono leafs. I've never used monoleafs, but I've read here on the HAMB that some ride very harshly.

Anyone here ever use parts from these guys? I'd really rather not use a front clip. I guess I'm just stuck in my ways and old-school.

Input from those who have been there-done that GREATLY appreciated - Jones

I've bought a few things from them and have had pretty good luck. No experience with the springs though.

I used James Durant mono leafs on my F-1. They dropped it around 4-5" from stock leaf packs. Not sure where to buy them as mine came from a Ford truck only place. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys - much appreciated. How about ride quality though? Do you just live with it, or is it pretty good?

I know I beams can ride great - the setup in my '40 Ford pickup is awesome, but that is a whole different design and story . . .

I dont think you are going to have scrub line issues with a 3" drop axle. If you run a 3" drop axle and pull three leaves it will put your truck down to a nice stance and should all ride above the scrub line

Hey, thanks for the tip on the Posey's/Speedway two-leaf springs. I didn't know about them previously. Price is pretty good too, at around $350ish they are less than the monos (by the way, CCP no longer caries them).

Did a little more research on monoleafs . . . not looking like a good way to go anyway, although like many things it may all depend on the manufacturer (people seem to like Durant):

That is pretty much what you're running on your truck, right? Nice stance.

Stock spring packs are 6 leaves, right?

No my truck is a 4" drop axle and mono leaves. You would be 2 to 3" higher with the 3" axle and pulled leaves.

When I have the funds I would like to put a 3" axle on mine. I dont worry to much about scrub line but when your axle is to low it is a little creepy
