Monster garage

Well, I don't have cable so I didn't watch. But, since I have a couple of Anglias, I've already had 3 people call me and tell me about it. Any comments or opinions??

 

That was the most fucked up show I think I have ever seen.

JJ could have made some kids day by donating the Anglia to a local shop class or junior college or something instead of CRUSHING IT with scrap metal! And gotten a good tax break to boot.

Drama,,,,,reminds me when I was a kid slaving away at a dead end job trying to save enough coins to buy an electric guitar,,,and the WHO destroyin' all there high dollar equipment on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW! HRP

 

He took a stock Anglia, attempted to build a low rolling dragster with a brand new supercharged BB Chevy Merlin in it. The team failed to fire it up so he took it to get crushed with the new drivetrain still in it.. what a waste.

he gets off on fucking cool stuff up i guess when ya got all that fame/cash and oh i had a fucked up childhood syndrome ya can do that perverted stuff

 

To anyone who has ever built an anglia there were so many things wrong with that build ,that it was hard to make a short list.....
It was apparent from the first, that the guy narrowed the rear too much.
Then the general clash of "PRO PERSONALITIES" and their enormous egos was the death sentence for the project.
I mean- how difficult is is to measure and determine the width of a proposed rear axle assembly and it's wheel dimensions?

I just couldnt believe the botch cure of using thick rear wheel adapters on a NITRO fueled car,for one....and the use of the stock Anglia front axle and spring,let alone the stock Anglia steering box ,was beyond all explanation.
If there is any blessing to the whole end result of the "build team" failing to get the job done -it was, that they may have just saved Jesse James 's life.

 

What the fuck.

 

I hope he thinks he's that much cooler now for fucking up a nice car.

The whole build team was made to look like idiots.

I had to work tonight so I recorded it. I guess I watch it when I get up instead of when I get home

 

from the moment i heard about the anglia being on there a couple months ago ....i knew it was going to be a train wreck .....you just don't add a blown big block to a anglia and not have something stupid happen ....call it creative editting or what have ya....but it just came across like a bunch of know it alls...and the one that did know it ...didn't show it....man what a hack job ....i guess the only one that came out good was the guy that sold them the car......yeah it probably kept him out of the hospital....cause something bad was going to happen .....drive a big block anglia once ....always a interesting ride.....haha brandon

Jesse James is definitely not a car guy. No one who loves cars could do that to a car. The saddest part is the Roland Leong has a strong history in drag racing and he didn't come off looking very good. I don't think I could have walked away until the thing fired.

 

Roland has always been a car owner.....and his mom!.........OLDBEET

 

like he said he was doing what he does.......(watching and directing) hah no one in that group looked smart.....

 

It's not on yet here in Cali., guess I am going to have to watch it now.

10pm Pacific time. I guess Ill have to see what this is all about. I have to admit, I like to watch the show on occasion when they have an outrageous build, but also agree that some things should be kept sacred. Remember the Gene Winfield/ Bill Hines episode? Would love to own that one.

 

Don't WASTE your time like they WASTED this car.

I'm not much into Anglias or anything, but man- they ruined a decent virgin car and a lot of high dollar parts. What a WASTE... I would kill to have the motor they had in there that didn't even fire!... that was crushed. WASTE. May as well take a brand new $40,000 car and just show it being crushed for shits & giggles.

Any way you look at it, WASTE!

I was half hoping they'd do something unusual and grant more time, etc. since they were close...but to WASTE a car and all that high dollar stuff because they didn't get it to fire...WASTE.

I'm sorry, but it always seems like they have problems getting the engines fired. The one time, they had a "professional" mechanic there, and he couldn't start a brand new Summit SBC!! Give me a break! I think my dog can dead-time a small block. What a bunch of shit.

 

I knew that car was doomed at the end of day 3, too bad they started with a good solid one.

 

Just finished watching it. I agree what a waste, of a good car and a load of cool parts.

The guy doing the rearend !! He did'nt know what he was doing at all, it looked like he cut 2 inches out of the rearend on each side. Where did he come up with that? when he got done it was an inch and a half per side the short. I bet if he left it alone it would have been fine, and a lot less work.


What is that old saying, measure twice cut once !! Oh Well.

It actually made me dizzy and nauseous when they dropped that 10,500 LB block on top of that Anglia. Then they rub it in by showing it over and over again in slow motion. That was a very distasteful ending to a show with such a large fanbase of car enthusiasts. This was even worse than when they cut up that vintage front engine dragster to make a hot dog cart. It would have been great to give that Anglia to a high school auto shop or even a vo-tech school. Sure, they cut the hell out of it, but then again, that's why God created them in the first place to be Gassers. After 50 years of existence, that car deserved better than to be turned into a metal pancake. Sorry for the long post, I'm just upset about it.

I was hoping that somebody was going to post on here & I hope that Thom Beers or someone form Discovery reads the HAMB.
If all of the design team has some form of racing experience, why would they take a perfectly restored $15,000 59 Anglia & not look to a local race shop like Specialty Cars in Artesia ,CA. & buy the components to build a proper Monster from scratch, The dollar amount would have been the same. I believe the engine was a "Freebie" from "World Products" To have one of their blown engines shown on Natlional television not lighting is a hell of a blow, not a product endorsement or any kind of good advertising. I noticed that nobody did a tdc check when ol J.J. himself said" it's out of time "& I think that's what really pissed him off.
I don't give a f*ck how much money one has or who the hell their married to, There is no excuse in ruining a perfectly fine car that really could have been donated to a school shop for a Irwindale Thursday night 1/8 mi drag car.
I notice ol Boyd's show isn't on anymore @least in the Direct TV-Pasadena area. Maybe as HAMBERS, We should let Discovery Channel know how we feel about what the hell this knuckle head is doing to this type of tin.
