You know it is just like Home Improvment when the smashed that 55' Nomad. What a fucking disgrace, I will never ever watch either show again. They should crush J.J. and Tim Allen instead.Gabe

You people are unbelievable! I'm probably going to get thrashed for saying this, but fuck it...

Let's stop and think about what the hell we're saying here. What's the show about? What are the rules of the show? In Jesse's defense, he made a show that got YOUR attention, YOUR interest (you watched it didn't you?), and for that matter what the hell else is on TV? NOTHING but shit! Yes, it sucks the Anglia got smooshed and I really felt empty and sad inside when it faced it's demise (don't say you didn't feel something), BUT.... IT'S FUCKING TV!!!!!!! You knew what the show was about. You knew there was a possibility that it would get blown up, lit on fire, crushed, or shot up...

I think it's funny that people are still being haters to JJ. Rediculous! Why does anyone seriously care who he's married to or what he's doing? I'm guessing nobody in this thread knows Jesse (including myself). I'm not about to start judging him for what he does or what he's about. TV makes you or anyone else look like whatever will get good ratings and bring in money...

Go back to watching Home and Gardning! This thread blows and who gives a shit. Let's talk cars and learn some shit instead of gossiping about something you saw on TV that pissed you off.

Whiners. Turn off your fucking TV and get in the garage and do something useful that will bring good info to this board.

I sort of agree with Scooter, sure the Anglia is wasted, but it was bought and paid for and an owner is free to do what he wants with his car. Did anyone else notice the only thing that survived was the STOCK front end and the dragster front wheels? will the show cause a rise in the value of Anglias or cause more to be crushed? I think not. I sure would like to have the rights to all the parts that are stripped off vehicles on that show.

  4. Guys-
I stopped watching that show when they made that drag rail hotdog car. remember when they took that old vintage drag rail off his ceiling and started grinding on it? Didn't he even say it had some kinda history to it? WTF? I mean, just tearing up a perfectly useable rail (or in this case Anglia) "just for TV".

What's next, cobbling up a "barn fresh" gennie 32 roadster? Oh, that would make great TV too.

    Cripes.

Whiny crybabies. STFU! (That's internet speak for SHUT THE FUCK UP!!)

Jesse's more than likely a lurker on here, I'm sure he's lovin your bashing of him. Probably laughin his butt off too. He's got the $$$, he's got the talent, he got the TV deal. I'm sure you'd do the same provided you were him, car guys or not!

Sounds like ya'll should be blamin the fucksticks that screwed up, instead of the host of the show. So it's JJ's fault solely and entirely that they didn't get it done right? Gimme a break. Go whine to your mommy, she might give a shit.

An Anglia got trashed, it sucks, yes. From the descriptions it sounds like a cobbled together dangerous POS that formerly looked like an Anglia.

Ya'll missin the biggest point. It's TELEVISION, they DON'T CARE! Uh, hello? Melted Caddy hearse with complete airbag suspension still on it? The minigunned RX7 that HAMBer Cole Foster worked on that didn't work perfectly? Richard Petty nearly losing to a MINI that got turned into a snowmobile? A VW Bug BEATING a Big Block powered airboat? If you really think some of what has happened on that show wasn't planned AND edited to look good, you need to find somethin else to do. Like shoot yourself in the foot, on purpose, repeatedly, with a nail gun.

  8. If I had been waiting to drive that car all week... and then the experts couldn't get it started... and could afford to smash the thing..

Right or wrong..I think Mr James was releasing some frustration.

They did make a car fly one time, that was cool.

"...I remember when the show "Home Improvement" was on ABC, and at one point during one of the episodes, Tim "the tool man" Taylor drove his red '55 Chevy Nomad to a construction site, where it had a giant I beam dropped on it by "accident" crushing the car. I remember a ton of car guys bitching at the network, and they actually came on the next show and appologized, and showed that it was faked..."

Could someone post some pictures that won't show up? Maybe that will salvage this thread.....:D
Gosh, I'm hesitant to mention it, but was the car trailered to the crusher?

I think they got FAR MORE than they paid for.

Think about it. Everyone here is talking about the show and some HAMB'ers that never watch the show will be on next week to see what the saw-dust brains are gonna screw up next. $40 grand doesn't buy a 2 second ad on TV anymore. For their $40 Grand they got a HUGE AMOUNT of word-of-mouth FREE PUBLICITY for the show.

Stupid insane shit pays! go ask Horshit Sterns or Jerkoff Springer.

Me, I'm going back to the garage. I'll deal with the nightmares of MY RIDE being under that beam later.

That show upset me a lot. First of all, time limit or not, winning or not, I wouldn't leave until I knew why it didn't fire. Yeah, crushing any good ride should be a criminal offense. Got a question for those of you who taped it and can watch it again. Is the motor really in there? Seemed to crush awful easy to be a block in there. also the the blower looked like a mock up, just went by to fast to tell. I'd like to think they salvaged something.

Frame by frame pictures are on the Monster Garage webpage. Engine seems to be MIA in the last picture. Also a little stuff on their message board.

Can ya just FEEL the passion ! Both sides of the fence, are passionate. We take rusty crap, and make our pride and joy. He started with a diamond, and crushed it. IT IS T.V........ It's our fault for watchin', when we belong in the garage. Hey, Monster G., American Chopper, and the Biker Buildoff's, hell boys, those shows got me motivated to build something of my own, I look at those monkeys and say, HEY - I CAN DO THAT, HELL. It's all just nuts and bolts. Besides, how many other programs on that idiot box are targetted to US, besides sports. Hell, I love the shows, they show you that WE can do it. Do you think for a minute that the aftermarket chopper market would be a fraction of what it actually is today, without Discovery bringing custom choppers into the living rooms of millions of viewers? Don't think so. Hell my parents are as ANTI-MOTORCYCLE as you can get. Can't be because I've been on Harleys the last 25 years, buy my mom was actually torn (as most of us were) when Indian Larry passed away.
Anyway, I would have given both my nuts, not just the left one, for that Anglia. I actually had to turn it off before the weight dropped, I could not believe they were gonna do that...............but what the hell, it's a TV show, and they get the ratings.

I have a better idea...next time the team fails to finish on time, you can just drop it off at my house Jesse James, and I'll take care of it for you...:)

Discovery Channel is going to get a letter from me. Does the history channel take FDR's 36 phaeton at hyde park and drive it off a cliff?

A car guy show should not destroy historic cars, even if they can afford to. It's immoral. It's disrespectful. None of us that loves old cars should ever watch MG again.

That's rediculous and so is this thread!!! We're all TV watchers on this thread, sad to say. We watch things related to our hobbies no matter how retarded it gets. Just like we participate in the HAMB. It's human to pay attention, one way or another, to things related to our interests. I'll bet that everyone here who is saying "I won't ever watch THAT show again..." WILL watch ANY show if there is a car (or whatever) that interests you. We have all been positively effected by MG and any other show related to our hobbies that was put on Discovery, TLC, History, etc. rather we realize it or care to admit it. Something good came from all of it rather you LIKE it or not. Your life has changed in some way because of shows related to your hobbies.

Write that letter man! Let us know what happens... I bet the fact that you are willing to write a letter to them is enough for them to keep the show going. They know you care enough about the show (and the cars) to wonder what's next. Otherwise you wouldn't bother with the letter, right?

All this bitching about the Discovery Channel, Jesse James being a jerk for destroying a car, and who isn't going to watch what TV show now, is as much of a waste of time and energy as me replying to this thread over and over again... so that's enough for me then.
