Hey guys,im just after any tips on best way 2 fit moon caps, screw?,rivot? silicone? dont wont rattles or them falling off! im not talking about clip on ****!......?
How about the stick you used in the avatar? I think screws would be best, just not so long as to go through the tire bead.
I have a set on my '03 Ford Econoline since new. 140,000 miles later, I have been through 3-4 sets. I have the screw on type. I had three screws, six screws, silicone, bigger washers in steel and nylon. They rattle and the holes wear out, get bigger and fly off. I had so much silicone on them one time, I almost destroyed them trying to pry them off to rotate the tires. However they are some cool looking hub caps and get a lot of compliments. Any ideas would be good. I just don't think they were made for hi mileage every day vehicles. Zilla!
Stick with "the clip on ****". I have a set, they look great, don't rattle or fall off and I don't have to mess with the screws or silicone ****!
i'd heard the best non-rim screw method was to find a set of stainless trim rings and rivet the discs to them, then snap the ***emblies onto the rims. with a bead of silicone and 4 or 5 equally spaced rivets they ain't coming off on their own.
I have a lot of miles on my "snap in" retainer disks. No screws, push on compression fit. No rattles and they have never fallen off.
