Hey I agree that the deal seems pretty crummy for all the people that turn up and wait at the gate - just seems to be a capitalism problem and not a nationality one.

Not really related but something to think about before blaming (I know not everyone did) Australians - we rodders down under have had it pretty rough for a long time! Companies wouldnt ship to OZ (many e-bay sellers still wont!) and even if they did we had a terrible exchange rate, ridiculous shipping quotes, etc. Now things are starting to go our way a little bit which is good.

Think of it this way - some of the guys had been talking about a billetproof type show in OZ, but decided that the high-dollar billeted stuff is such a large percentage of the scene that it wouldn't be worth it - a large reason for this is that for a long time when you wanted hot rod parts you had to go to the big $$ companies and get repo parts - this meant billet and fyberglass bods etc.
The good old stuff just never did grow under trees like they do over there. I hope that the Australians that were picking the best stuff didn't just try and turn a dime on ebay.com.au, because I've never seen ANY good mooneyes stuff on there haha.

I sent an email to MOONEYES last week regarding this sale and the selling of parts early to "SPECIAL" people. I mentioned the locals, the Americans who have supported Mooneyes for years and want to put the cars on their local built American built Hot Rods....seems only fair to give them a break.

    Their response: NONE !!!!!

I bought some mooneyes stuff over here...........and sold it quick, cause the quality sucked on those parts.....pay for quality, not the name......

  6. I wasn't blaming the BUYERS. Just making mention that it sucked that some got preferential treatment. And merely stated "fact" that they were from overseas

  7. Enough bashing Mooneyes! Who's going????
    I'll be there early...

    I'm goin'.

I gotta stick up for 'Photofink' on what he's been sayin'...
We both know a buyer from Australia (a really nice guy BTW) who told us personally, how he goes down and just buys cases of stuff sight unseen, 'cause he knows despite taxes, import fees, etc., he'll triple his money, even though the stuff isn't perfect and might have some flaws. I remember thinking 'well good for you, but what about the rest of us, that just wanna buy just one of something, and the whole case is already sold?!'

I guess we'll see how it goes this time...

    See ya all there!

  12. HMMM, if they're willing to buy sight unseen, then they can wait, like us, we can all buy TOGETHER, and EVERYBODY'S happy, no? We buy onesys, and twosys, and they get the REST OF IT

i got back a little while ago. got their at 8 a.m. and parked my caddy across the street. ran into Bad Bob and a few friends, picked up some 4" bullets/bubbles, an eelco guage cluster and 5 purple metalflaked teardrops for a whopping $35 bucks!! looked like the swap was first come first serve this year :D i even got a bad bob bbq shirt:cool:

i took some pics i'm uploading right now, so look for a picture thread.

my caddy got boxed in so when guys started shuffling parking spots i decided to leave rather then get stuck again:eek:
