Talk about dumb crooks. Gotta be dumb to steal something with billboard sized signage all over it.

    How stupid can you be?
A custom-made trailer sporting the colors of a worldwide well-known company. It may contain well known products that any person would know.
I hope they are caught and identified and dealt with accordingly.

  5. damn sorry to hear this, will keep eye open in LA

This is a reminder for you all that adding an apple airtag to your cars and trailers might help. Or some form of tracking.

Also add numbers or art on the roof of the trailer.

    What a damn Shame!!

Steering wheel Kris reported seeing it heading east towards Ontario I-10 yesterday.

Probably painted and may have different logo by now. They knew what it was beforehand and had plans after the heist. In our area of S. Texas car haulers and enclosed trailers are like candy to a kid. Even locked garages are fair game for these lowlifes.

  10. I certainly hope these shit bags are caught, and the trailer is recovered. This kind of BS is out of control almost everywhere.

When you get a trailer like that put your logo or something on the roof, they will not be able to see it from the ground when the steel it

  12. The way I see things is that when the bad guys are caught they get to cop a plea. Why not do away with the plea system, and just put them in jail for the maximum time. At least that way they will be out of circulation for the duration.

It doesn't say if it had their "Merch" in it but I'd be watching for a bunch of Mooneyes merch showing up for sale. That trailer is going to be hard to hide even if you paint it as it is a custom built merchandising trailer.

That is pretty distinctive, hope they find it before they can cover up the logos and hide it. For those of you that have enclosed trailers consider painting the top with something large and easily identifiable. That way it can be identified overhead and not just by the sides and rear.

Also I bought one of those boots like they use for parking enforcement and I boot my own trailer when parked. Won't stop them completely but will surely slow them down for the time it takes to cut it off.

Probably the opposite. The trailer is the target. They don't care what is inside typically

And there is a special place in a food court for that trailer. It'll show up in Portland with 17 different styles of the same burrito painted on the sides.

  18. when I had my Mysterion reproduction I built a trailer to haul it around. In my preparation for the build I found that 30% of all trailers in the US are stolen or vandalized/robbed every year. That means you can expect to have your trailer gone in 3 years from acquisition. I also looked up on YouTube for the best theft protection. There isn't any. YouTubers showed how to defeat every device in seconds.
I still tried to come up with some sort of protection to at least slow down the thieves. I figure they want a quick hit and will pass on anything not easily taken. First step was to paint it gaudily. I copied Ed Roth's Mysterion trailer paint job. Second I came up with my own version of hitch lock and door locks.

A hair dryer and all the vinyl is gone. Not good for anything but sales or food. Food truck for sure..

There is a cordless tool out there to defeat everything we do and the thieves get them a whole lot cheaper than we do because the store employees are not allowed to stop them or follow them.

True there. Someone had eyeballed that trailer probably not knowing or understanding how well known it is with the idea that they could steal it, paint it and repurpose it to their use without spending 10+ K for a trailer. If they get caught it will be because they did try to sell what is inside the trailer and somone spots it. That might mean a stack of Mooneyes T shirts at a flea market or on FB or Craigslist or even in a yard sale.

Exactly. Many stolen trailers are made into mobile drug labs... What's inside is incidental.

I always wondered about making up a locking device with a tube of fairly thick walled regular tubing and placing a hardened piece of hardened rod inside the tube. I would think that if someone was to cut through the outer tube the haredened steel rod would just rotate within. Comments?

I have both a tandem axle 16 foot trailer, and a single axle 10 foot enclosed. In addition to the doors and hitches having locks, the six wheels and tires are locked up in my garage. It only takes ten minutes or so to jack them up, put blocks under the frame and remove the wheels. I also modify the hitch jack by removing the pivot pin that holds the handle on, and use a locking hitch pin to attach the handle when I need it. It won't absolutely keep them from being stolen, but it will make them a lot harder to tow away.

  28. Ya think "Radioactive Waste" stickers would be a deterrent? Or maybe a sign that says "CAUTION: Pissed off mother-in-law inside"!
