I wish someone would take my trailer

I have to move the thing every time I want to take one of the HAMB friendly cars out. I understand why dad wanted it parked in the driveway in front of the gate to the backyard because that’s where all the garages and carport are and even on a good day it takes 20 minutes to unlock everything he has hidden to make it hard for the honest thieves. And that’s if I have all the keys in front of me and ready to go. o_O

All in all it takes me over an hour to get a car out

Been there, how in the hell you can drive out of that facility, crossing lanes of traffic, without being seen...impossible.

Traffic cams ..... should be on every corner, more than any State in US I bet.

    Maybe a promotional marketing stunt.

I was thinking the same thing. A company as big as Moon Eyes, I would think they would have security camera's around their building and lots.

I'm not sure where you got your data, but "I" think you are way off. Having been in the trailer security business for almost 20 years, I don't see numbers anywhere close to this.

If they wanted to get to the contents all they need is a battery powered chainsaw. Cut through that thin sheet metal and take what you want. There was a time years ago where that was happening at truck stops in the PNW

On a similar note: the neighbor kid was borrowing my gas from my motor home,
I transposed the fuel and holding tank graphics and watched from upstairs window, finally he came, he was a sick bastard.
    But so was I !!!!!!

yeah, a battery powered angle grinder and cutoff wheels... almost no material will stand up to it. it'll cut through hardened shackles no problem.

Yep, we are chasing our tails. Part of my business is door and window security grilles and products. These were a decent deterent until the introduction of battery powered hand tools. Now?...... Not so much.

  15. FYI guys Mooneyes is smaller than you think. It just run by a few guys and they happen to love what they do. the area has had a lot of development and they are just about the last old shop there. All the shops across the street are now gone. This wreaks of developers doing shit to run a business out.
I would bet on it being one of the construction crew or day hires.l or friends of theirs. Either way the trailer was said to be headed north on I-15. So Barstow, Vegas that area...

Looks like there was merch in the trailer. Be on the look out and report

Cheap insurance is Trailer Tracking GPS.
With a App on your phone, if it moves, your phone will notify you.
It does work. Call the cops and relay the information.
You can see where it is going and or where it is.
The cops can arrest the thief or find a abandoned trailer.
Locks only keep the honest people out.
Like I said - cheap insurance for a couple hundred bucks.

Another simple way is to cobble up an alarm system that would activate if someone moved the crank handle on the jack stand. A simple micro-switch that is under the tongue where it wouldn't be noticed, and the handle weight holds it down. When someone lifts the handle to raise the trailer, the micro-switch activates a siren hidden beneath the trailer. Always leave the tongue low enuff that it would have to be raised to put on most trailer balls. Also, the siren needs to have a timer so it doesn't immediately stop if the handle is moved back down, and an off/on switch. I also have a ball that I cut the threaded shank off. I put that in the hitch so they can't just raise the tongue and drop it over a smaller ball.

I’ve used the cut off ball in my trailers for yeas but like many say battery powered cut off tools.

  19. Seems there should be some way to mount a LED light-bar or flashing red light, like on a police squad car, to the roof of the trailer. Power it with a separate, concealed battery and use a motion sensor to trigger it. I think most, if not all states prohibit the use of flashing red or blue lights on a moving, non-emergency vehicle. Seeing these lights operating on a civilian vehicle or trailer would surely draw the attention of the police, even before they have been notified of the theft.

Air tags are the best way to cheaply be able to keep up with it. Just hide the thing and be sure to swap out the battery every year or so. I have one in my OT daily hot rod just incase someone wants to borrow it without asking. Heck even my dogs have them on their collars along with being chipped if they get out. And it works really good for that

I store my trailer at a friends place with no tongue lock or theft deterrents. He owns a trucking company and has a nice gravel lot. And he owns guns. And a back hoe. Strangely, I haven't had any issues with theft. There was some fresh gavel last time I was there dropping it off.

  24. From what I have been told the only problem with them is anybody with a iPhone can detect that there is one as it uses bluetooth to send out a signal to any iPhone within range. Smart thief just has to check their phone to see if one is there and the phone will lead them to it.

  25. You guys do realize that Apple alerts people that there is a airtag following you if there is one not associated with your own icloud account that follows your phone around? Newer iphone's 11's and up can also be used to locate airtags.

You can also locate them with a bluetooth scanner as they continually emit a blootooth signal. If you are counting on it being a theft deterrent you may be in for a shock as they are not secure in any way shape or form from being detected.

  26. As has been said the stuff is probably dumped in an alley somewhere and the trailer repainted .

happened up here a few months ago a race car trailer , car and contents found dumped behind a building and trailer gone

and a trailer full of swapmeet stuff was stolen the trailer and all contents found a few days later . Probably too big a pain in the ass to unload so the thieves just dumped it and walked away .

sucks hope they find it or are insured .

Doesn’t take much to get new plates on a trailer in California. I lost the registration and title to my dad’s trailer that my brother kept in his backyard. It was easier to get it re-registered re-plated than get a replacement title. I wanted to get a reissued title and keep the gold over black plate but it wasn’t worth the effort. No wonder trailers get stolen.

All you need is a current plate off another trailer. Oregon doesn't put tags on smaller trailers and you see a lot of utility trailers advertised just south of the Columbia river in Oregon with "no title" some look fairly new.
Trailer theft is crazy all up and down the west coast though. Tweakers stealing enclosed trailers to use as mobile meth labs. Individuals who steal an enclosed trailer to haul their belongings "back home" where ever back home is. In the Portland area and up though Central Washington there are several back ally shops that convert step vans and enclosed trailers to food vendor rigs.
Trailers that get stolen for what is in them almost always have tools for a tradesman in them. Construction or other contractors tools. Stuff that can easily be pawned or sold at flea markets or other outlets. A trailer load of way too easy to Id by way too many people merchandise isn't getting stolen for the merchandise, it is getting stolen for a speciific purpose. Unless they are pretty stupid the thieves didn't take it very far before it got hidden in a building to be stripped of the logos and repainted.
