I have never had problems. I've ordered both over the internet and by phone and both were a breeze. With the internet order, it maybe took 3 weeks from time of order to my doorstep...but I wasn't "needing" what I ordered so that was cool. Second time, the phone order, I called because I had an older catalog and they didn't have the item I wanted on the website so I gave em a ring. I've heard that though they may not have items listed, they still have stuff in inventory that they think no one still wants. Anywho, I gave em a call and not but to rings later a guy picks up the phone I give him the old part number he finds it (an air cleaner) and says "got it, is that all you called for?" I said yea but give me two. He says ok, takes the card number and says it'll be shipped out. I got it two weeks later but hey, it cam in a box covered in tape that said "GO with MOON" all over it and a new catalog. I understand wanting something NOW in this digital world, but with timezones and places that stop working at 5 o' clock everywhere, why not give it a little time? Just my experience though.

  2. I buy stuff from the US (not Moon) and it usually gets to me in 5 - 7 days, by REGULAR MAIL! So it can be done.

If anyone has access to an old Moon catalog ('50's-'70's) thumb through it and look at all the cool stuff they used to offer. Now just about all they have is el cheapo bolt on crap. Dean Moon must be spinning in his grave.

I never buy from Mooneyes for one good reason, they're over price everything in their inventory. If, you think Mooneyes is expensive in the the USA, well I've been to their Yokohama store in Japan and the prices way higher. There's too many good companies around with better service and prices. If HAMBERS need a good business to deal with ask here on the HAMB for referrals it would help.

They make 4" discs?!? Didn't see anything like that in the catalog, but that don't mean much.
Picked up a set of 17" Moon Discs for a buddy's Dodge pickup project, but I got 'em through Richard's Stuff at the Goodguys show in K.C. :)

Maybe they should get into the car show promotion biz? They through one hell of a car show last year!!

  9. They lied to me a few years back about becomming a dealer. Said I needed a $500 buy-in and then I would get dealer pricing. Got some of my regular customers to step up and we all were exited to build an initial order. Went to order and I believe it was Bob who said "$500, I never told you that?"

    Fucking liars.

Sadly, this is a common theme on the HAMB, and seems to be a common theme with Mooneyes. Where is the common decency/give a damn about the customer? My dad always told me you are only as good as the next customer who contacts you and one bad cutsomer experience will affect ten sales-and that was before the Internet.

What's with you Mooneyes? People want your stuff, people want to pay you money for it.What are you in business for, anyway?

  11. I used them a couple of times to get some 50's stuff, no problems other than slow. If you are outside the US and are a big fan of nucliar events your stuff might be getting bogged down in customs. I use Speedway, they are run by racers for racers.

I bought a Mooneyes tach thru Honest Charlie at the Moultrie Georgia swap meet. I had it on my car for about a week when it crapped out. Stuff breaks .I called mooneyes. They instructed me to send it back to them for replacement. They replaced it without any problems. What else can you ask for. I thought their customer service was excellent!!! I'd buy mooneyes stuff again.

I agree Doc...that is definatley (I really can't spell that word) is a long time. I was talking about guys griping about a months period. In your case, as with others, y'all got shafted. If that had happened to me, I'd probably never do business with 'em again. We all gotta wonder though, how did these great places get the way they did? I agree, open up an old JC Whitney, Warshawsky, Gratiot, or Honest Charley and everything was top notch and almost one-of-a-kind, can't-get-anywhere-else stuff!! The demand is still here, what happened to the supply?!:(

THis is from a thread started a few years ago. I still feel the same way.

"My wife ordered a set of white face guages for me for Christmas. When the package arrived, she didn't open it, she just wrapped it. Christmas morning I open it and its black face guages. I called Moon and they said send them back and they would send out the correct ones. End of January comes and I finally get my guages in the mail and guess what, they are black face guages. Call them again, and finally in mid March I got my white face guages. FUCK MOON EYES. Over 3 months to get the shit I ordered and they WERE in stock."

Moonyeyes can make custom diameters. It may take several YEARS to get them, just happened to have some made up when I ordered mine back in 2000.

I believe the actual quote from 31,000 feet above the blast sight was, "Burn you bastards, burn." As far as Moon goes, try calling them.

Chico's a chucklehead. His stuff is classic Rod & Kustom, yet he doesn't give a crap about the U.S. It's all about Japan. He sets up at SEMA every year, why? I don't know, because he won't sell wholesale to anyone. That's why manufacturers go to SEMA!!! He says he doesn't make enough money on wholesale! Bull! He'll sell to me at 20% off & I pay shipping. Ummmm, let's see, I buy a $100.00 air filter for $80.00 & pay $16.00 shipping. WOW! I made a whole $4.00. Take a hike! I'll spend my money elsewhere. I bet Dean Moon is rolling over in his grave! It may take forever to get my Offenhauser order, but at least they're good people.

For those that have a gripe with Moon call them and ask for Shige or Chico. they are the president and Vice president of the entire company, and are always glad to resolve an issue you may have with them. Anyone that would hop in a plane, fly all the way to England to fix a customers car that wasn't running right due to one of their products is serious about their product AND their reputation ! Making things right is just one of their goals and the reason why they have been in business since 1992. I was employed by them a long time ago, and although i had disagreements with them back then we worked things out and are better friends for it. To start bashing them on a public thread just isn't right guys, i know, i have done it before - with someone else, but i don't think its the best solution. Calling these guys and asking for the main man upstairs might resolve your personal issues quicker. At the end of the day, we're only human and mistakes are made. Thats my 2 cents, have a nice day.

I had an issue with them last year.I ordered 2 sets of headlight covers. Then waited a month.Contacted them and was told that the lady that makes them was real ill.Waited a few more months and was then contacted that my order was being filled. Finally after months go by I get them in the mail.

  22. you know what? that's pervasive throughout the entire Hot Rod or Street Rod market. When we first set up our shop we also set up a store front. the wholesale prices from many of these companies were an insult. An Air Suspension company wanted a $3,500 buy in - no problem, but only a 15% discount! An A/C company - buy 5 systems and get 10%, not to mention which 5 systems would be appropriate for a business that deals with 1920-1960's cars? Just two examples of many. The problem is all these little companies don't have the for sight to set up proper distribution so that a shop or store can actually make a profit so they can stay in business and service the hot Rod community. then you get the bigger ones that have sliding discounts depending on volume of sales and you can just buy it cheaper at Summit than their "Wholesale" price. We finally gave up on the store front, it wasn't worth the hassles and inventory dollars to pay off.

Well it started out simply as a question. Call? Why cant they return the e-mails, they have it there for a reason?
Bash them? Now, I have no problem, I wont let a mate cop this shit. If they go under I now dont care.
Dean Moon was a great man and his legacy has been tainted by these fuckheads. Id rather live with the memory of what Dean did than have this shit.
Didnt they fly over there after two years of fucking the guy around? Reeks of 'lets try to save our asses here'

Many, many years ago when I worked at Bell Auto Parts, Dean Moon was one of the nicest guys around. I almost went to work for him but he just wouldn't match the money I was making. He did however have a GREAT collection of pictures he took of a lot of nice young ladies!!!!

I NEVER had a problem with Mooneyes.....I mean, sure they were sometimes bound by the realities of the universe, and of international logistics,.......but they had cool shit that I couldn't get ANYwhere else.

Tell all our American brothers here on the HAMB why you didn't use your local distributor in Australia???????

Well in my job people die all the time.
I didnt buy here because none of the suppliers had what I wanted and was told it would be quicker to get it from the US. It also worked out 2 months ago cheaper by almost $200 bucks when our dollar was at 97c US.

So....for stuff you COULDN'T get anywhere else, QUICKER than anyone else could get it FOR you, CHEAPER than anyone else could get it for you, you CAN'T wait patiently, and instead come on a public international forum to BADMOUTH their Company ??????

What did they say when you CALLED THEM ?

Like I said before, it started off as a question. Simple.
But so many people have been burned by them that it has turned into that. And, more to the point, I dont give a fuck.
So being smart, getting something (Supposedly) faster at a better price is wrong? I believe you have a serious problem with economics. By all means, go into politics, maybe you could fuck the country up just a little more?
What did they say? When I can I will call them, I work 12-16 hour night shifts, makes it hard to find time to do it. Emergency departments dont get that quiet of a night time.

I had good service from Moon but I got stung by credit card fraud immediately after I placed the order. Same happened to another guy I know bought from them. Guess their database was hacked. I hope.
The mother-truckers bought items from all over the world. Fortunately the bank covered it.
Other than that Moon was great.:)
Would love to sell their product in NZ.
