Mooneyes-V-NASCAR???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Dec 13, 2006.

  1. I heard the Mooneyes party exceeded all attendance EVER at the facility of Irwindale Speedway. At this track are lots of NASCAR events. Some televised. NASCAR's the largest sport in the world supposedly. Not Motorsport, SPORT, PERIOD. We beat NASCAR! Pretty ****ing cool i'd say. Pretty ****ing cool.

do you mean cars or people

  4. Good question. If i was forced to guess, i'd say cars (easier to count?). But, with cars, come people

  5. I also heard they closed the line off for awhile & then re-opened it.(cluster fukk)
Hopefully Mooneyes learned some things & next year will be better.
    Bottom line,get there early!

****. Someone needs to get fired for letting some of those rides in.

  8. My guess is NOBODY expected the turnout that we had. That facility can work with some fine-tuning. The drags adds a great dimension to the event. Kinda like adding a little swap meet to a show, but BETTER.

They need more food, more trash cans, and definitely more restrooms. Those lines were insane.

  10. My opinion is, let traditional type pre 64(?) cars in like in prior years, and don't provide any formal parking for spectators. In past years/locations, there have not been formal provisions for spectators, and it's always been a lot of fun. Be a part of the party, or take your chances. OK guys, fire away at me!

I agree with you. Except for the year cutoff for exceptions, impalas, rivis, some trucks. Of course under strict guidelines, but then they will need a very knowledgeable guy at the front. Not some little acne riddled kid.

Send them an email tell them you had a good time www.mooneyesusa.com but also tell them a couple things that need to be fixed and tweaked, do it in a constructive civil way and I bet you'll see results next year.
These are things they need to hear, but they probably already know? sounds like it was bigger than they anticipated! it sounded like a good event I was out of town and missed it, bummer!

    And only one open restroom...
I would have been just peeing where ever I happened to be...
Wouldn't be the first time, I peed in the gutter right in front of a Denny's on Valley Blvd one time when they said the restroom was "broke".

Can I see it needing the Pomona LA Fair grounds in the future?

Or maybe they need to make admission include a Mooneye's product purchase reciept?

Don't get all that way because I'm suggesting it's a commercial party venture because you already know it is.

Bigger than NASCAR...hmmmm...I guess soon people will be lining up to buy collectible electric train sets and pocketknives with Germ's logo on them...Denise will be signing autographs and selling little models of her car in the Walmart parking lot...an Alliance tag in your car window will allow you to do anything you damn please with a police ******...
Can western civilization handle the paradigm shift??

  15. "Can I see it needing the Pomona LA Fair grounds in the future?"

Thats a good question, but doubt it will ever happen.
The way I understand it,the Fairplex gets ALL the parking money when an event is held there.
NHRA Winternats in Feb & World Finals in Nov,,thats not counting the swap meet,gun/computer shows,GoodGuys etc.
Actually,I could see this happening if Mooneyes played their cards right.

  16. alot of people didnt know the rest rooms by the main entrance were open! those are the ones i was using they were so clean!

  17. they ain't turning any cars away, its all about the MONEY! it was a good show and i don't think i would change anything about it. i think it was the one of the best shows of this year!

  18. EXACTLY. That's why i put a question mark by the 1964.

it was a fun time but it was HORRIBLY un organized.

It took some people two hours to get in & cars were overheating and stalling left & right.

There was way more parking than they used (since nobody took inventory of empty spots) & there is parking on the other side of the speedway they could have used for spectators

& $20 bucks a car was a bit steep to hang out in a parking lot...

Cal Speedway has a pretty big parking lot,AND it has a 1/4 mile dragstrip! Also, the best restrooms in the business! If they would have allowed pre-registration,alot of that **** wouldn't have been in there. You should have, turned right for spectators, turned left for participants. That way there would have been alot more room. Still one of the best shows i've been to. Jeff,20 bucks isn't bad. Primer Nats is 20 bills. Not as bad as Viva! I heard 75bills,to sit in the parking lot!

  21. That's goddammit, ****ing, sonofa*****ing, hilarious!!!! I wish they wouldn't have bleeped it

  22. AND look at 800 cars, AND watch some pretty dam good drag racing? Why you cheap MoFo!!!! Oh, i mean that in the best way

I was told by Mooneyes that Irwindale speedway didnt take the show serious hence the lack of support and preparedness. I guess they learned a few things over the weekend.

Uhhh... The parking lot on the other side of the speedway??? Where the pits are for the roundy-rounds??

That's where I was parked and it was pretty full.

Or am I missing some other parking?

POMONA would be perfect. There's more than one entrance and plenty of room. And a drag strip. And the cops there are used to crowds like this (this type, and this size).
    P.S. what's a nas car?
