Mooneyes X-Mas Party-who's driving the furthest?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Nov 16, 2007.

  1. How far will you be traveling to attend? Will you be coming straight in, or coming the night before and getting a room nearby?

If its anything like last year i'll be home watching my gr*** grow !

last year was a f%&*#@! joke. We got to the offramp at 10:00 a.m. and didn't get to the gate ( 1/4 mile away ) until 11:45 a.m. , only to be told that the parking lot was full !

I talked the the guys at Moon a week ago when I went to register the ride, and they say that they have improved the layout for this year and are not expecting a long line off the freeway.

I guess we won't be there this year, for the first time since I don't know when. Mooneyes is now charging artists to set up and sell at the show. Years ago, the artists were the draw, and no exhibitors were allowed. Now it's almost all exhibitors selling rockabilly supplies, and the artists are getting squeezed out.

Goodbye, Mooneyes, it was fun while it lasted...

  16. You should go anyways, it's ****s about squeezing the artists out, thou.

When it was still the Rat Fink Reunion, it was a fun little party, but I guess money is the most important thing to those guys now. Too bad.

That sux, I got a good friend thats an artist, and he had a similar problem at the Blessing years ago. It seems like everbody is just in it for the money these days unfortunately, but Mooneyes is the show I look forward to more than any other all year.

And just to be clear, it's not the money part I object to. We would be happy to pay for the space if that's the deal for everybody, but every year there are more and more non-hotrod exhibitors selling tchotchkies, cutting into any sales the artists and stripers would make. We always did well, but every year it was a little less. I know the other artists have complained about this in the last few years too. I guess this year it will finally transition from a cool party to a swap meet with a car show attached. Maybe next year the guys selling steak knives and packs of tube socks can get a booth, too.

Well that ****s donkey ****s on Easter Sunday on the front lawn of
the Vatican! Who, in what's to p*** for their right brain, would wanna
spend an A.M. sittin on the damn freeway only to be told , by some
$1.98 track handler, "ya gotta park on moon and hike in" only to see
most of the iron ya saw last round?
.......And chargin' artists a set up? What are they tryin' ta do, make
    this into a household word?

If anybody was planning on buying any fine COOP™ Xmas merch at the Mooneyes show, just buy it from our website instead. If you want it signed and/or personalized, just add a note to the order and it will be so.

My wife (she runs the vast COOPSTUFF empire) just said that any HAMBers buying xmas stuff should type "holiday" in the coupon code box, and you will get 10% off your order. Happy Kwansaa!!

I have to admit that my impression last year that this really wasnt so much a "party" that Mooneyes is throwing as a thanks to customers, but more like a party to make them as much money as possible...

****s they have to milk the artists too, along with everyone else.

No matter, i'm still likely going. It's the people and cars that make the event.

All this being said, it's still us being there with our cars, and... a dragstrip, but the Rat Fink Reunion it's not.
