Holy ****! Where'd all those cars come from? Is it possible for a show to grow THAT much in one year? I couldn't believe my eyes. HUNDREDS of cars, thousands of people, better drag racing than i could've wished for. The line to get in was horribly managed. Sorry, i'm not a picture taker, but i was consumed with the size of the show. To think it was only 4 years ago at the Elks Lodge where the capacity is something like 50 cars. IMPRESSIVE! Met a lot of Hamb guys from out of state that seemed to really dig the whole thing. I guess if it impressed me, these guys must've really dug it. GREAT way to send out the year. Mooneyes NEVER disappoints
No, i took a 64 442 that mimics a 60's Super Stocker(but runs like a VW). I decided to just enjoy the MANY facets of the event without being stuck in the staging lanes. I hope the Vette to go a mid 12 when i get around to it. It feels real strong.
I agree, great show, but. I got there at about 5:15 am, and there where about 150-200 cars waiting in line to get in. There was a line to get in , lines to buy food, lines to the bathroom, even lines to leave the venue. Amazing, the promoters were overwhelmed. Alot of cars I hadn't seen before, and the drag racing was just *****in'. Next year I'll race with the big boys. I love California
I had a great time. I saw alot of HAMB'rs and got to see alot of new rides..........Hey Dread, thanks for this shot. This is cl***ic (one for the books) wouldn't you say Bob?
It was an awesome show but I almost didnt get in. I had to leave late because the ol lady couldnt get out of work. Traffic was horrible the car in front of me was the last car aloud in and they made me and the rest of the line leave. It was 1:00. Me my wife and an elderly couple parked and tried to walk in but they wouldnt let us, even though we parked and walked for a mile. I followed two people in their 60's over the fence and the rest of the people they turned away did the same. I would have loved to give them my money but after 2 hours of driving I wasnt leaving empty handed.
Trunk searches sure didn't help the line move any faster. They even stopped my 12 year old son who was drinking rootbeer in a bottle to make sure it wasn't a beer.??
I almost didn't make it either. As i got close they waved everyone to the right, away from the show. I said i wanted in the show. She asked, are you racing?? I say, yeah, sure, whatever you said, why not? I go to the left now towards the show to this LONG line for tech(?) The guy in front goes hard right to this little space, i follow, and holy ****, we're in the show! Like magic. I have no ****ing idea what just happened. Three guys in Mooneyes shirts rush over to me and say, hey, i think we're switching strategy, and just park anywhere. I figure, since i'm a brain surgeon, i can do THIS. So, i kill the ignition, lock the door, and RUN before they change their minds. I truly lucked out
Didn't get to the show until 1:00. Couldn't close the shop til then. Waited in line for about a half an hour only to get turned away, went on down to the racers entrance and talked some dude into letting me in. Could not believe the size of the show. Chico must have been overwhelmed! Have been to every Moon show and this one was the greatest. Drags and Cars and ***s Wow was it great. I think that this show has a soul of it's own because I am sure that Chico and his guys at moon have not promoted or managed it into what it has become, they are not capable of anything like this. I think part of it is that there are no other shows of any magnitude this time of year and this one fills a void. Next year I'm not even going to open the shop, just go to the show. It was great.
We had a great time ! got there about 8o, got in line and went right in and the place was packed. Saw a lot of really *****en cars and a few ****boxes too. This event gets bigger every year. I will try to post some pics later.
All I can say is the show was the icing on the cake for the whole year ta boot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was great having the fellow HAMB'rs around chopped50ford's "VICTIM" and just hang'in out together. I had a ****in blast. It was so big that I think I missed seeing half of the cars that was there. All I can say is that the guys that I hung out with rock! You all know who you all are. Just think what next year will be like???????????? Groucho, did ya sign the HAMB banner? KNUX!
No, and i was over there saying hi to Bob. Brain farted i think. I agree with the frosting thought. GREAT end to a great year. The line was so long, i almost went home to wait for a friend to go later when the lines died down. Trouble was, they didn't, and he never made it. Glad i stuck it out. Real glad. When i got my first glimpse of the magnatude, i was in awe. I mean really, it was huge. Awesome racing too. Better than i'd hoped for
i had to wait close to a hour and a half just to get inide the parkin lot. when i finally get in half the cars where gone. the good thing , i gave the lady a 20 and she gave me change for a 50.
Man did it ever take a long time to get in, seems like people are saying it took a long time whether you showed up at 5:30 am or 1 pm. I got there around 10am and went through all the h***le everyone else did. But I really enjoyed the show. So did my wife which means I may be able to make out to more shows next year.
It WAS fun. I met more people that I've har***ed here on the HAMB and then went to the Boulevardos BBQ. Much, much fun there too. My old POS got hot, but it was my fault, I guess. The cars ran the gammit from the ridiculous to the sublime. The racing was pretty cool, for gasoline. I got my dose of Nitro when the Ewald brothers fired up, with our own FuelRoadster holding the ****erfly steering wheel. A tip of the Top Hat to the Mooneyes gang. Rockstars, all of 'em.
Hey Chili, i wasn't sure we were gonna make it there for a while. AFTER getting in, i realized i should've been way more concerned while still outside in line with you.
That's a No ****ter, Groucho. Being an Olds guy, I have to compliment your car. Just SCREAMED early sixties. Loved it.
It was freakin crazy out there. We got there around 10:30 or do. Since my wife used to work near the speedway we were able to use a "Locals Only" short cut but it still took us 30 minutes to get in. Found the HAMB Canopy way too late, on our way out at about 12:30. By then the wife and kid were complaing about their feet and wanting lunch. I came cash short and couldn't find an ATM anywhere at the track. Would've spent more money if I did.
Had a great time. No way they thought it was going to be as big as it was, totally not prepared in the morning to handle the crowd. Great show and perfect weather, sorry East Coasters! I want to apologize to Hoovs family for all the F-Bombs at the HAMB EZ Ups! Totally uncalled for and I was embarr***ed. I am just glad my girls weren't at this show to be a part of that!
