History Mooneyham & Sharp 554 Coupe

    Great video. I think the K&G guys show up around the twelve minute mark, but the whole vid is worth watching. A little hokey at times, but a lot of sixties footage.

  3. The 554 chassis was always the one from the sedan. It's my understanding that Gene crashed the sedan and the coupe body came from Carl Johnson. And I believe the coupe was chopped at Carl's body shop. Carl partnered with Gene for a short time. When Gene partnered with Al Sharp, Al started working on head and manifold modifications, and later machined his own billet heads. Gene gave Al all the credit for the coupes performance, but I believe Gene was a hell of a tuner, and the two men worked well together.
