Looking for a guy named Moose Irwin from the Chicago area, he at one time owned the "Prison" Car, it is a sprint car built in Jackson,MI state prison in 1932. Or does anyone else have info on the car. I now own the car and want all the info I can get. Steve
I may know who you are talking about. I had a Uncle Moose (Warren Irwin) who lived in Chicago and owned two sprint cars. He was not a blood uncle but he and my father were very good friends. We moved from Chicago to Oklahoma about 40 years ago. We would go back to visit a few times over the years. The last time I saw Uncle Moose and Aunt Rene was in the late spring of 1976. They had come to visit us in OKC on there way to Arizonia. At that time Uncle Moose was either in or going to join a antique race car ***ociation. I was to stat college that fall and he tryed to talk me in coming back to Chicago and stay with them. He had located a miget race car he had drove back in the 40's. and was going to restore it. I opted to go off to college. The next summer (1977) we received word from Aunt Rene that Uncle Moose had p***ed away from a brain anurisum. The two sprint cars he had from my rememberance were red, one was # A3 or 3A with a Offy engine. The other was #38. My dad has some old pictures somewere of the two cars from back in the 60's. My dad still lives in OKC, but I now live in McAlester. From what I remember my dad telling me was the A3 or 3A car was used in the movie "To please a Lady" starring Clark Gable. Uncle Moose bought it sometime after that. If you have some pictures of the car you are asking about send them to me via e-mail and I will see if it is one I remember or take them to my dad to see if he can identify, dad does not have e-mail (age thing 80's old). Let me know. Rick
