Here is the deal. Because my 360 has the famous christmas tree vacuum hook ups and I have an offy dual port intake the xmas tree gets in the way of the distributor vacuum advance. So if I move plug wires to the next location counter clockwise and rotate distributor accordingly. What would the effect be on using a timing light with original damper markings? Do I need to add or subtract degrees from the readings?

Secondly over 1800 rpm the timing light tack seams to cut out and read zero. Is that a strong indication that #1 missfires at higher rpm.

    Thanks to all

You need to pull your distibutor out and relocate your #1 spark plug tower on your cap or just rotate it like you said. As long as you get this part right the marks on your damper should line up just fine with the pointer. If the tach on your light is cutting out try putting the pick-up on another wire and see if it still cuts out. May be a bad pick-up on your light.

No need to pull the dizzy, just move the plug wires to the needed location and rotate the housing so that the rotor hits #1 when the timing marks line up.
