Here is the 383 in my truck. Not totally traditional but has some flavor to it. The decals are late 50s early 60s Chrysler (also came in 413). To be totally correct the valvecovers should be gold and the motor black (I would love to re paint mine but I have other stuff that needs attention).

What ever you do dude, dont put a HEI unit on there. Thats just disgusting. You can get a rebuilt one from a NAPA store (dont know if you have those around you) for a year with the regular electrionic distributor (try 71 or 72 maybe?) and just throw the lean burn dizzy in the box for your core return (shhhhh, I didnt tell you that).

That engine looks great Fiveoh...hope mine looks as nice.

    Everyone has NAPA! LoL

It's HEI but it looks like a regular distributor with a regular size cap...even takes a separate round coil.
No Chevy look to it at all.
I like it because its self contained and doesn't require the resistor or control box etc.

The Mopar Performance (D.C. is gone???) adapter part is discontinued.

In the search I found some posts talking about people just shortening the shaft.
Say it works fine and is as simple as I thought it would be!

People DON'T do it only because they want to keep the distributor useful for the RB engine too. The adapter makes it possible to just switch the distributor back and forth.

Machine a spacer out of aluminum on a lathe and run a longer bolt in your distributor hold down clamp...problem solved...or, if someone gives me the dimensions I'll just start making them for sale...

Hell, all I really need is the distance the distributor needs to be offset, I have a B block and distributor that I can get the rest of the dimensions from...

Thanks! Yeah Ive seen guys bolt the HEI unit to the bottom of the Mopar distributor and you dont have to run wires to a remote box, nice because I have wires all over for that box (its kind of anoying).

Sorry man...totally missed this post somehow!

I'm interested...but I wonder how a Torker will work on a stock engine?
I'd like to get an aluminum intake eventually but I was thinking of a dual plane version.

I tried to PM you but it doesn't seem to work! Your PM's turned off???

I got my 400 delivered last week, from New Jersey! Its an awesome complete, standard bore engine. I still have not unwrapped the plastic from the other parts that were sent out, but am hopeful a good set of high compression heads are in there!!
