i am going to change my torqueflite 727 to a overdrive unit. i am planning at this time to use a ultrabell conversion bellhousing. this is going behind a 361 big block in a 65 town wagon . the question is can i use a 47rh instead of a 46rh? as the 47 is a stronger trans.
will the ultrabell bolt up to the 47rh, and are there any other differences?

I've just finished ***embling a 47RH using an Ultra Bell and have it mated to a 413. This is on a motorhome, so I don't have any floor interference issues.

i finished mine in may. i used a built 46rh with a slight stall converter
(2600 rpm) used a compushift mini for od and lock up control. it all worked great till this week. now it won't unlock the converter at times, and then started not shifting into overdrive. the ****** is fine, seems to be the controller. i will be contacting them shortly.
yea, i didn't have any floor clearance problems on the town wagon either. just move the crossmember back a ways. it was a job well worth doing.

i'm not much of a picture taker, only have a few, but there is a lot of articles out there with many pictures. also a lot of time and trouble saving tips. here is one link, but it doesn't include the bellhousing swap. i know i have that one printed out in the shop. i'll get the link and put it on here also.PAY PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE STARTER MOUNTING IN THE BELLHOUSING. the author had trouble, and thanks to his tip, i would have had problems too. took a trip to machinist to make the clearance for the starter to bolt up. i called jw bellhousing on this, but they didn't have much to say.http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=84774.0
