I'm in the process of swapping a 1963 push button 727 transmission from a 19-spline input shaft to a 24-spline input shaft to allow me to use the later 24-spline torque converters. I pressed both input shafts out from the rear clutch retainer, but didn't pay attention to the oil feed hole orientation on the input shaft just above the splines. Do these need to be lined up or offset 90 degrees? It looks like fluid would run along the channel since the ID and OD are so different, maybe it doesn't matter?

I looked in my 727 rebuild book and searched online and couldn't find where anyone talks about this orientation for the oil holes.

Contact A&A Transmission in Camby IN. They are Torqueflight specialist's. Phone is 317-831-3066. They ought to be able to help you out.

I actually emailed Pat Blais and he said it can go back in any orientation because the fluid runs in a channel and then in those holes. I just lined the holes up and pressed it back together.

    Thanks for the help though!
