We bought this 71 Duster with a 400 auto in it hanging on elephant ears. Supposed to be a hot car. Yeah OK pull the other one. It had been around though, with a set of manual pedals in it and had been painted 3-4 times, a different color every time. That's me looking at the ground through the hole in the bottom of the trunk pan wondering why I let my wife talk me into looking at junk. Luckily the supply chain was still OK then and I was able to buy the metal I needed from AMD (trunk, fender, bumpers). Put carpet in it, rebuilt the suspension front to back, and stuck a 69 valiant grille in it because it just looks better. After about a year of messing around trying to get that 400 to even spin the tires, the starter gave up the ghost, I ended up cutting the headers off, then several exhaust studs stripped, so I called it quits on that and I built a stout 360 and put a 4-speed behind it with an 8-3/4 with 3.91 gears. Spinning the tires is no longer a problem. The big zip tie corrects the over-expensive fan shroud that warped while laying on a shelf. They put the K in kwality. I spray bombed the engine bay with B5 blue because someone had goobered it up with flat black and B5 is the original color. When I was mostly finished with it, I got a cancer diagnosis and so far I might have driven it 20-30 miles. Hopefully come spring things will be better. No, I am not going to paint it. I might touch up the spray bomb primer, but that's it. Maybe I'm weird but I like it that way.
I've already posted my stuff in the Mopar and street freaks threads. Here's one (not mine) from a local show from 09.
Finished this one this spring and drove the shit out of it all summer. Roller 318 with an a833 overdrive and 3.55:1 rear gear.
