OK so I'm tired of freezing in the mornings. When I bought my 64 Belvedere the heater was leaking. So I disconecected it. I can order a core from a local supplier cheap but its a 66 core are they interchangable? Any help would be great Thanx
I am not sure. I have had to have mine rebuilt a couple of times, and it needs it again, but I don't drive it in the winter anymore so I got lazy. You might check with yr one
buy the heater core, install it and find a core core that'll fit in the box... parts counter dunces these days wont know the difference
This guys not a parts counter dunce knows his **** most of the time but his book, yes book, not computer only lists a 66 as the earliest. I thought year one was only chevy stuff not Mopar but I'll check. As far as rebuilding my local radiator guy retired and the nearest shop is now over an hour drive away
My life story brother, I have been doin that **** for years. I have had to ORDER almost everything I needed for my Mopars. Can't find our parts layin on a shelf. We PAY to be different man. I love these things. An hour drive... your ****tin me bro. Gas up! Check out that shop. Also check NAPA. You would be surprised, I got a heater core for my duster in a week from them and it fit great. Mopars, you either love'em or hate'em....... I love'em Bryan
My local car quest is f ing awesome They could have it for me tomarrow but its for a 66 not a 64. OH and the best par is they give my club a healthy discount. Oh well I was hoping someone would be a human interchange mopar manual and say something like the core is the same from 61 to 67 or some **** like that. Guess I'll just have to pull it and see if its a match. I don't have to pay to order the part just to take it home. thanx
Just looked in my YearOne catalog. Says 66-69 B-body without A/c. 7-3/4" high, 7-3/4" wide and 2" deep. Doesn't list anything for the 62-65 cars.
You might have to modify your heater box a little to make it work but that is what HotRodding is all about!!!!
On a 50,000 og mile car I ain't modifying ****. I 'll either wait till I can find the right one or keep freezing and wiping the inside of the windshield with my rag defrost. lol
I have found that 65 seems to be an orphan yr on these things, I have found you can get a lot of stuff up to 64 then 66 like I could get seat covers for mine but no door panels or seat foam, but you could get all that stuff for the other yrs.
Over on the moparts web site this guy Dave C***ady ****pak@sypatico.ca email, advertises in member services as restoring/repairing heater boxes. He might know where to get the right part.
Take your core to a radiator shop and have them fix it, no need to look in a book. Delay now and freeze or get cracking on a one day job for a good shop.
Where is ****/cheeto land tiny? I might have a hookup for you. I've been out of the loop lately fiddy... haven't done car stuff as of late cause i have no job and no money, and I'm going to school to get my BME so i don't have too many spare moments.
glad to hear you're still pluggin away at it dude... ****s about the no time or cash for cars tho. been there
heatrcores are like radiators as they just have some specific dimensions ... so measure it in all possible ways and then check theback of the book for simular units slightly smaller or odd tube sizes can be overcome believe it that you are now maybe crossing blood lines but heater cores are pretty universal check you hollander too under dodge ply chrys and other brands good luck
Take out the original heatercore and coil up a few feet of heaterhose in it's place and hold it together with some ty-raps for the time being while you get the original fixed. Works well enough to blow the windows clean in the morning and put some heat in the car. Mopar heater-core housings usually have 3-digit numbers on them. Try to compare these with other years to see if they match. I *think* a '66 Model has the heatercore on the inside of the car under the dash. Your '64 still has the heater on the firewall in the enginebay I think.
