  2. Might be easier to get another carb. I bought a B&B carb here in the want ads a while back, re-built for $30, delivered.

When I owned a Auto machine shop we would recondition carb throttle shafts quite often. Our secret was to use a process using "K" lines for sleeving valve guides. A good machinist will know what I am talking about. We would bore the carb body out and press in the "K" line sleeve and then hone the sleeve to fit the throttle shaft. If the shaft was worn we would either replace it or weld it up and turn it down. While this may seem a long way to do the job here in NZ sometimes we do not have access to a ready supply of parts to just replace an item and need to fix or repair what we have

thanks for the help, I sent oldmoparts an email. I was planning on just reaming the carb and installing bushings until I pulled the throttle shaft and realized the shaft was the problem. how would you weld the brass shaft without warping it to build it up? tig with brass filler rod?

Best answer is to turn it in for a rebuilt carb. The usual fix at a rebuilding shop, is to ream out the holes and use an oversize shaft. To get the holes to line up you need a pilot reamer, a reamer with a long shaft on the front to got through both holes at once.
