In another thread I have about flooding issues, I was asking about the fuel pump regulator and electric fuel pump on my Dodge. After looking closer, I think that a mechanical pump might actually fit with my front engine mount. My question is: does the fuel pump require a push rod like a small block Chevy? I would like to eliminate the electric fuel pump and regulator.
Depends on which Dodge motor you have. Small block LA motors and Poly motors have no fuel pump push rod, the pump arm runs on an eccentric cup bolted to the front of the cam, as long as that eccentric has not been removed (or was not factory installed), just adding the fuel pump will work. The 361-440 big blocks and 426 Hemi have a fuel pump push rod, and it operates off an eccentric that is ground into the cam. The slant 6 has no fuel pump push rod. Can't help with the other Dodge motors. Gene
Thanks for the reply. The engine is a small block. When looking for a fuel pump to order, they didn't list a push rod. Just wanted to make sure. This is the first small block mopar I have owned. (Had a couple of big blocks and a Hemi, but mostly sbc engines.)
