I have a mid 70's 318 and 904 AT in my 52 Desoto Firedome and have hit a snag. I have put the engine as far back and as far up as possible in the engine bay but I still have no room for my PS pump. It hits the left frame rail. I'm using the stock PS steering box and stock suspension. I'm probably going to need to fab up some brackets to raise it up to clear everything. Is there any stock Mopar brackets that will put the pump higher in the engine bay? I went to the local pick-n-pull but couldn't find anything that helps. Has anyone else out there had this issue? If so, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. Put the engine in the proper place.

Fabricate a bracket to carry the pump where it clears.

Sounds easy, but the basic thing is to set the engine where it belongs, keep the CG (Center of Gravity) low and avoid having to tear up the bellhousing/transmission sheet metal in the floor as much as you can.

Once you get rolling it's pretty much self-explanatory.

My '95 pickup has the pump mounted higher than most, but it's a serpentine belt setup. Look for a 1st gen. Dakota 318 in the wreckers, they're pretty narrow.
