I have a 230 dodge flathead six with a wilcap adapter to a turbo 350. It uses a modern mopar starter. They say starter drive to ring gear should be 1/2 to 2/3 engagement. Ring gear is 3/8 wide. My starter engages to 1/2 half so that makes 3/16. Doesn't seem like a lot. They say that is factory spec. and starter drive may bind if engaged too far. Any opinions or facts on that? Thanks for any response.

Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois. I live near Schaumburg. What part of IL are you from?

I would suggest you edit the ***le of thread to something like:
Mopar flathead six starter help needed

Or similar. There are quite a few guys here who run a Mopar flathead six. They should be able to help.
