Am setting up my diff, playing with a set of mazda 4 bars. and panhard rod. pic 1 is where i think they should sit and where they were on the donor car. pic 3 is where i would like to mount them but am not sure if the hang down angle is good. pic 4, top drawing, can i move the mount point of the lower bar to be inline with the axle? and thus get a more level bar... from another thread i gather thay sould run close to parallel to the ground... is a transverse rear leaf spring suitable to use with 4 bars thankyou and sorry the pics are so large! aussie
sorry this is messy guys, having issues with photo bucket and the uploading!!!! aussie osborne guidance needed so i dont make costly and unsound mistakes...
You are scaring the shit out of everyone with your pics and crazy angles. Follow these directions. Set the frame on stands at the EXACT ride height and attitude you want in the finished car. Set the axle under the car in exactly the location that corresponds with the above, use wheels and tires if you have them. Make sure it is centered and square. Position the lower links so that they are level or slightly higher in front. Position the upper links so that they project a line toward the front bumper when viewed from the side. If the lines of lower bars and the upper bars cross in the vicinity of the front of the car you will be fine. If you need more specific instructions, or a more specific tune on the geometry, you are not ready to do this job and you need to go to the library.
I'd check with your ASRF rule book also to confirm that the Mazda bars are OK for use. Are you running a V8 engine, Mazda only ran a 4 or rotary from memory. Go local as well on this one to be sure. Lots of experienced hot rodders in Adelaide. Could always check with Rod at Rodtech.
