Genuine time machines, not only because they transport our minds back in time but also because they capture the actual light from that time and place. Beautiful.

The joy of true Kodachrome slide film is its ability to resist fading so that properly exposed and stored images have an uncanny "window into the past" feel due to their saturated colors. Here's a few shot by my grandfather "back in the day..."

Freshly built Levittown (PA) Shopping Center and Levittown Parkway in 1954. There's a WalMart here now...

Me and my Dad (a veteran of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge) on the way to church in Grandad's Pontiac. Temple Ave., New Castle, PA, spring 1954...

    And the Pontiac, a '52, I think...

I've shard these before but they bear repeating... Taken at an unknown car show in July 1952.

well, it's the film, and it's the feel. Window into the past? In those moments when I pass a place that I have strong memories of, a momentary image flashes in my mind as things were, before the present intrudes and shows the ruins.
The picture of you in your dad's arms is powerful.

I would really like to hear from Jake or his close friends: If that grille came from an Austin 7, or as everyone reports, a 37 Ford Pickup..

Pete, I know your on here, what do you know or thinks?
