FAW -- You might be thinking of the Thickstun head covers that were designed for marine applications, particularly for raceboats. They shielded the spark plugs from water spray. The Thickstun aluminum air cleaner was designed for the same application. The motor shown in the eBay listing appears to have a Thickstun air cleaner, or a copy of one. Here, the air inlets are on the bottom of the housing to prevent the carburetors from being doused with water.

I've seen Thickstun head covers and air cleaners installed on vintage-style hot rods in recent years. Can't help but wonder if the owners know what the hardware is all about, but have never felt it's my responsibility to call them on it and act like a*****head. The old stuff looks pretty neat and does have a legit spot in hot rodding.

If you were to add some Hemi-style biscuits to your HT wires, to plug into the openings in the covers to keep water out of the area beneath the covers, those new ones could be excused and explained as "rain covers." [IMG]

Do they have a "Heartbeat of America" version? I'm doing a traditional "Dale Earnhardt #3" inspired lakes roadster, with matching traditional stuffed animal trailer, and these would really look great on the disguised traditional flathead SBC engine.

Also, does K&N make bowtie-shaped air filters that will fit on a fake flathead TPI?

Is there a cover up out there to make my 2002 Dodge Ram look like a 32' 3 window?
