Been a long summer, and not a good one for working in the shop. Won't bore you with all of it, but most serious is I have lost a lot of my sight in my left eye...Oh well, still got one good one. However, the last few weeks my Grandson has been back in the area, so helped me a lot with stuff I had a hard time doing. * Changed the rear bumper to a '49 Plymouth... Always wanted them, but my Ol' man $$$ prevented it. Finally found a pair that needed a lot of straightening as well as tweaking for a really good $$$, so grabbed them. * Temp installed a pair of real old style mud flaps.. yep, either love them or hate them, but growing up in the '50s they rocked. Yesterday we tore off the front bumper and grille, that I have changed so many times I can't remember. Anyway we did the best we could to straighten out the other bumper, cut it in half to stretch ~5" and wala...really like it. Will continue to use the '49 Merc grille. * Also have it really close to moving on it's own ! Having driveshaft cut. Also clutch is hooked up and working on shifting linkage.....leaving three on the tree using a '51 OD trans. that I did not realize was different than the '49, but hey, that is what it is all about.
UPDATE: My Grandson has been off work for a few weeks, and continues to help me on my '49 Ford Coupe. Yesterday was a really great day, as my almost total change on the front end is close to complete. DamnDaddy, I love doing this stuff. And yes this will be the FINAL Change LOL
Have been having some health issues so not in my shop as much as I would like to be.. But today my Grandson helped me for a while, and we got the front end pretty will buttoned up. Most all is just temp in place, but I really am liking it. Also as a lot of you know, I am an (80) year old Blue Collar worker, on a Senior budget, so like to be creative. Been kicking around gauge bezels for some time, and a few days ago at ~3:00 Am this idea hit me, so made it today also.. I am liking it a lot !!
