"only a few rats"... I'd say there is more than a few in that post, but that is what the guy likes, so that's what he shot. many of those cars are only good for a WTF? post.

I figured you were. I dont think one needs airbags to lower a car. I personally dont like cars that are 1/4' of the ground.

I just got back and had an awesome time. I loved the car show. Say what you want, there were some cool rides there, and yes there were some that I did not care for but so what..........Met a lot of cool people, heard some good as well as bad music and basically just had a kick ass time for a few days. Always going to be people to rag on every show but that is life. Some people just have to rain on any parade and bad mouth the people that went and enjoyed themselves. Like someone else said, if you think the quality of cars is bad and you did not go, why not bring your ride sometime and up the quality if that is what you think it needs.

I'll be back for sure next year.

All of the pics posted I've seen were from the show. There was another anti-viva show going on but it was 30 minutes away and I don't know anybody that went. And the VW was in the parking lot, along with a ton of cool rides that couldn't make it into the show. I believe the show is a victim of it's own success. I got there about 1pm and there were probably 500 people in line (no exageration) to get in and two people taking money up front. Back in the early days, there were no lines, no fence, no show time, no $5 for entry, just a kick back, bad ass time, surrounded by bad ass cars. It's way to sterile now, but I guess it has to be because it's so big and successful. Either way, I enjoyed the hell out of the show. I wish they would have had a larger area set aside to let more cars participate and to give a little more breathing room for the show goers. If you look back at the photos of past shows, you pretty much see the same type of rides and the same type of people there. There's always been "rat rods", fluffy girls, wacky hairdos and outfits as well as the traditional rods and sleds.

How would the Purple People Eater be classified? It's impracital and sort of dangerous and looks kool as hell. It's definitely not a traditional rod, but it was the first car lined up as you walked in with the rest of the Shifters.

trailered show car? I think it is bitchen and I have taken numerous photos of it at various car shows but i doubt it gets driven much.

Here is a quote that sums it up "That car will never go down the strip. It's just a very cool and very large model..."

I looked at a lot of photos of VLV this year and I was sad I did not get to go until I saw all the pics of people and a lot of the cars.

I went to VLV #3 and #10 and enjoyed #3 a lot more then #10...bring back the car show on the upper deck and limit the amount of cars...it should be quality over quantity.

Youtube shows the Purple People Eater being driven quite a few times. I'm sure he can take it down a track. First someone has to have the balls to race 'em and second a track has to have the balls to let him. Marky has around 10-12 g's into that motor alone which is more than most people have into their entire car. It is trailered because it's a race car, but it's pulled behind his driver, a '59 or '60 El'camino. There is so much fab skill into that car and not to mention Marky has a reputation as a real nice down to earth kinda guy. He knows more about "Traditional" hot rodding than 90% of the people on the Hamb. Give respect where respect is due.

I am not disrespecting him at all. It is a bitchen car! About going down the strip...that is a conversation that has been going on for a long time here on the HAMB. If it was announced he was going to take it down the strip (hell he may have for all I know) I would be there with a chubby to see it for sure! I would not care what the time was.

To this day, that '63 Sedan DeVille is listed under "One of my favorite paint jobs".Pictures never do that car justice. The gal that owns it brought it down to the pub I work at and I got a close look at it.Great pattern and lace work all over it.My buddy Josh did an amazing job on the paint. Here's Josh's Lincoln, sucks that the windows work when they feel like it:p

I just got home and YES these were pics of the "official" show, BUT, There were a lot of nice cars to make up for it. I was a little surprised to see the typical tasteless ratty excess there after reading the rules for the show. The new location isnt bad but it doesnt have the same feel as the isolated top level parking lot of the Gold Coast. Even though im tired of the typical scenester Tacobellies (not a typo) and the high desert ex bro- hos showing up because they have nothing better to do AND the fact that it feels like a rockabilly Ozzfest its still better than sitting at home and doing nothing.I however agree with you, to me VIVA has not been the same since 2005, and I have good reasons to say that.

Hahaa! You use THAT thread to support your argument? That's what started all this shit storm and Ryan closed it because the cars were all rat rods and off topic. Now who's fucking dumb?
