Has anyone out there installed MORFAB's X-brace mod kit to allow room for a 700R4 transmission in a 37 to 40 Ford stock frame? Did it work well? Was there any issues with the booster/master cylinder mount/installation?

    Anyone tried this kit?

  3. i'm not familiar with that kit , so i googled it and came up with this:

    http://www.morfabcustoms.com/fabricators.php

looks strong enough to me and also looks like it would be easy to install. i would probably weld it in instead of just bolting. what is the price?

My 37 has a 700R4. I built my own center section using a CE kit as a starting point. I bolted mine in and it came in handy when I needed to pull the transmission for a rebuild.

I'm planning this kind of thing for my '40. I am a fan of Ch***is Engineering pieces and the TCI frame stiffeners. I am going to tie the stiffeners and CE center piece with the driveshaft hoop together. Then I am going to take some old frame C sections I have from a '60 to '66 Chevy truck frame that I have laying around and attach them to the stiffeners running forward, might weld them or bolt them to a couple of L brackets. Where the C sections intersect the X member just aft of the pedal mount, I'll cut and bend as required to tie in. With all of that I will need to add some flat stock to the top CE piece to tie into the longitudinal C sections and build a removable, drop out trans crossmember. Not sure if I'm going to run a 700R4 or the 200 yet, but there should be ample clearance for either.

I think that the importance of the frame stiffeners gets overlooked on these frames because the stock ones are kind of cheesy. I like the TCI ones because they are stout and have big holes for the exhaust to run through.

I'm going to check on the MorFab price next week. I'll post so everyone will know. I suspect there are several of us around with '35-'40 Fords that would like to have an OD transmission.

  7. just to clarify..when i said i would weld it in i meant the side pieces on the x-member. the bottom ****** mount i would leave that a bolt-in so you could drop out the transmission

yes, let us know on the price
