Thanks for all the responses and encouragement.. You guys are awesome! I plan to sit the motor back as far as possible. I've sat on a milk crate back as far as I thought the imaginary firewall would be.. Making Vroom Vroom noises, Air shifting & double clutching it a few times. Haha! I'm sitting back behind the "B" pillar.. I'm pretty tall at 6'2. So it should get pretty interesting.. I also really would like to run Zoomies .. So that outta be fun to figure out.. Morris stretched Funny car anyone? Haha! Thanks again guys.
You will sit behind the B pillar with any V-8 engine swap. I line up the bellhousing with the bottom of the stock dash. That gives me enough drive shaft to account for suspension travel without binding the u-joints. Your cage will be right at the frame kick up. Any further back and you run into interference on your wheel tubs.
Sure is the same car, I got some snaps of the car at Beach Hop also and was talking to the owner and his brother who are Poms... The brother has lived in Tauranga for about 12 years and the owner has only been here 6 months. I got told the following; the car was built in England then somewhere along the line exported to the States then the current owner purchased and brought it back to England and now relocated to Nz. Feature in NZV8 coming soon. Current owner has ran an 11 back in Pommyland on a tired N/A donk, has now been rebuilt and set back up with the blue bottle.
FedcoSpeed, I watch this video religiously.. Haha! I wonder if he is a HAMB'er? I'd like to ask him some questions. I'm I getting ready to move so this project is slow going right now.. Thanks again guys! Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I was thinking of building an Altered.. Not this excessive of a stretch but front wheels just in front of the body.. Kinda like the way they build the Fiats with the headers exiting out of the front wheel wells.. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes! I acquired a 12bolt rear end out of a Nova.. 33 spline Strange axles and Strange full spool .. 456 Richmond Pro Gear.. Anyone know maximum width of rear slicks? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Is this going to be a street car or a drag car ? Its your car build it any way you want. Looks ok for a drag car. Goofy for a street car.
Actually I think if you measure your wheel base you are already building an altered. Short wheel base cars got relegated to altered class with the rule changes in the later '60s. Any tire width rules will be relegated by your sanctioning body, some have an anything goes approach and others have a 7" rule. I have even seen some that only allow bias ply tires in the past.
then go for it. Southeast Gassers don't have an Altered class. So put as big a meat as you want. An 8-71 would be great to then you make it a AA/FA . You are going to need a chrome moly chassis for what you want to build.
Thanks guys! I'm just trying to get as much info as I can on classes, so I'm not changing a bunch of stuff later.. So like y'all been saying.. I'm going to build it the way I want it.. I guess kinda a tribute car Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Great little project. Hope you find your steel fenders and hood closer to home. More Morris stuff in Canada i guess.
Found some more cool parts in this engine this morning .. Starting the tear down on the engine. I was going to paint the Crankshaft balancer but decided to just clean it up Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

It's amazing what people throw away.. They had junk collection pick up in my neighborhood and someone was throwing these out... Look like early Volkswagen? May use them in the Morris till I can afford some racing seats.. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
