Hanging in the garage, mocking up tires and headers to get an idea of the direction I want to go.. This will be an Altered so front wheel is going way forward. Tire will hand just past the nose Probably 3-4”.. front end will tilt with Clevis pins in hinge so I can completely remove front end if need be.. headers are not the headers I’m using neither is rear wheel.. just trying to get an idea of what it’ll look like. Need to re-order frame and look for suicide door hinge kit. #[emoji298]️MINORTHREAT[emoji298]️ #496RAT Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Take look at my tilt front end setup on my Morris it is simple cheap and effective. Allows the whole front end to come off in less than a minute. Pull the clips knock out the pins and lift the front end off. I have less than 10 dollars in my whole setup.
Hey would you mind emailing me all the pictures you have on that tilt front end setup? I guess I can go look through your build post unless you have other pic’s not posted on there.. I really love the setup on your tilt front end .. I go the the front end all welded together just need to brace it with an inner structure but I’ve been kinda caught up trying to get the roof back together.. it’s been a little bit of a nightmarish jig saw puzzle... lol. But I’m ordering a suicide door hinge kit or may just make my own.. I’m ordering a Alston frame kit from Jegs.. i think I’m ready for it so I can get engine and tranny mocked up so I know where front axle is going and to figure out headers for it because they are exiting front wheel wells.. well really appreciate you thanks for your help... wish you were closer ... altwein13@gmail.com Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
May be a repost on some of the pictures but I want to put as many as I can out there for this style of chop because I had a lot of trouble finding pic’s for reference.. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
here are some more photos of the front end mounts. It is really just a piece of tubing welded to a flat plate. 2 pieces off the tubing welded to the front clip and one piece welded to the frame. The pins are tractor clevis pins. Easy peasy. Just line everything up with the pins and tack it together. Pull the pins and finish welding. When the front tips the lower part of the front end goes under the frame and acts like a stop to keep it from tilting too far.
You will have to ream the inside of the tubing as there is a seam on all of the tubing I found at the hardware store . No big deal A few strokes with a file and then a reamer or in my case a drill bit at low speed. Be careful the bit can catch the seam. I did not have a reamer the right size.
Thanks again Southcross hopefully next weekend I’ll get the frame started.. we are building 2 1 for the Morris 1 for my buddies Fiat Topolino Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yeah.. my buddy and I are building them chassis should be about the same for both.. decided to set the Morris on a frame instead of integrating frame Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hey have u seen that “Jesus Lives” Morris Gasser running the South East Gassers circuit .. from what I understand there was a little controversy if they were even gonna let it run due to wheel base. Guess they okayed it, like to know more about the car.. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It is a crowd pleaser and goes relatively straight. He runs A/Gas and has a bigger small block Chevy. Will be a player in the class when he gets it all sorted out. The wheelbase issue is a Morris is 87 inch wheelbase ,but with the Southeast Gasser rules allowing each end of the car to vary by 1 inch you can stretch that to 89 inches. Quain told me that if I was crazy enough to want to run that short of a car that he had no problem with it. I will be running a lower class to start with as my motor is only 308 inches. I need to weigh mine once it is done to see whether it will be a B or C class car and how much weight will need to be added.
Getting a little closer started the frame work this morning. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

I have not buffed any of the welds, still need to take a wire wheel to the welds, I’m using a gassless welder with .035 shielded flux core wire. Any questions ask away Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
