I'm a strange dealor and they are a pleasure to deal with, very professional and excellant product. Moser has come a long way in the past 10yrs and i have a good deal of respect for them although i have never used their axles or center sections. I have worked around currie products (existing) on street applications and i wouldn't consider using them, my rule of thumb - the guy that advertises the most has the least in product quality.
Somebody mentioned turnaround time from strange and i found it unusual he didn't have a good experience, most often the axles and parts are on the shelf and being shipped the next day. There are a few 'odd' combination where you'd have to machine a particular street application axle from a race car axle blank and that'll take an extra couple days, for the most part everything shown in their catalog is ready to ship. All axles will twist, the ones that don't will break or you don't need them to begin with. Remember, strange stuff is the stuff you get from ford, it'll have a ford part #. You want the best 8.8 or 9" stuff available, go to strange like ford did.

Okay, the HAMB has spoken... I've ordered my axles from Moser. All manufacturers obviously have a devout following and some good and bad experiences, making it clear as mud as to whom to order from...

Interestingly enough, when speaking with Moser, they were unaware of the HAMB (at least the tech guy i spoke to) and i told him all about it and the posting's responses.
I find it interesting a manufacturer of hotrod/high performance parts is unaware of the HAMB and how we its a great communication tool to help each other with recommendations both good and bad.

These manufacturers should certainly be aware of HAMBers, their growing numbers, and the viral affects a negative posting could cause them.

Thanks all to your responses! I'll keep you posted on the outcome of the transaction.

i ran a 9 inch ford with a strange center section, spool and axles in my mid 10 second stick shift camaro with no problems -i broke the 12 bolt 3 times before i went to the strange 9 inch set up

  4. Most of the guys around here use Moser. Good price and quick turn around. I have their axles inside the Curry housing on my 32. Quality stuff.

Dutchman came in late axle kit I got from the Hot Rod Works. Nice!

  5. I got custom axle from Currie 31 spline for a banjo rear turn around time good parts fit well spline nice and tight.A friend had strange axles in a oval track car and they snapped at the flange 12 bolt chev rear but he always had axle trouble

Had moser make me a pair of axles for my 57 Olds rear in my race car. Came out of the car after 4 years looking as good as the day the went in. Strange & Mark Williams are also great to deal with. No experience with Currie but never heard anything bad about them.

My brother had a pair of Imperial axles sent to Moser for shortening and resplining....they were kind enough to swap them for plymouth/dodge axles which took the machine work better and cheaper...sent 'em back and they worked ok but when the car got into the 10s we had to go with an aftermarket axle to conform to safety rules. He used Dutchman axles and they've held up alright. Good enough I also used Dutchman for axles for my 40 chevy project with a 9 inch ford rear....I odered the optional center hub turned down to accomodate disc brake rotors and had them drilled and tapped for 3 different wheel bolt patterns....
I did my research to find Dutchman offered their product [31 spline shafts for big-bearing 57 ford housing] a little cheaper than the other guys [Yeah, I'm a cheap-***] and their service was fast. I'd recommend them.

I can't comment on the others, but for my digger I bought all Strange pieces parts. I did have some issues - eventually they made it right. I wasn't over impressed with their customer service other than the fact that they did eventually make good. Other than their lugnuts - the machining and finish was EXCELLENT on all the parts - axles - center section - spool. They are obviously dedicated to making a quality product. Even though I had some issues with them - I would not hesitate to go with them again.

  13. I have used Strange through Baer in London. Everything almost works. Moser we have used and was absoltely perfect.
My strange axles dont fit well. I suspect the splines arent quite right. We had another where the bearing wouldnt stay on. , Axle was not quite the right size for the bearing and they supplied both. They did not seem to care which is why we switched to Moser. With him everything was right exactly as it was supposed to be.
