  1. I went into a guys garage the other day and saw a PERFECT '32 grill and shell ***'y hanging on the wall.....This is an extra one he has for his three window. We started talking about what it was worth, we almost came to blows. Help me settle this.....What is the MOST money you have seen one of these go for??? I really don't need to know what you THINK it is worth, I need to know what they SOLD for!!......Thanks guys!

  3. Thanks big D..

  4. If it's a "cherry" original grille and shell, I've seen idiots @ Father's Day swap pay upwards of $2500, last year I saw one go for $2650. Yeah it was nice, but not THAT nice.

About 6 or 7 years ago I flew out. I remember a guy sizing the suitcases from a luggage vendor with his Deuce grill shell so he could bring it home. I have no idea what it went for.

last spring at Greatwoods, Buddy George had a perfect one for $1800, unnegotiable. It was was out of my league, but I'm pretty sure it sold. He had a really nice '34 there too, for $2500. But that's not unusual.

Guy walked past my spot at Hershey on Tuesday with a great looking shell & incert that he paid $1,200.00 for, he was smiling too. I still think my swap of 1961 Ford floor mats for a mint incert when I was 10 years old is the best deal going, Yes, it is still hanging on my wall.:D

Hey, I'll trade you some '64 Ford floormats for it. That's a step up for you!:D

  9. I saw a perfect NOS one - not a mark on it - I mean perfect go for 8K at the barrie flea market last year.

There was a 5K price on it (had its original ford box even) and these two older guys started a bidding war right there. The one guy hit 7500 and said that was it for him. The other guy went 8000.

    Way out of my league.

In 1994 I turned down a perfect one Roy Brizio found for me. He wanted $600 for it. That was about a hundred bucks higher than your average shell at the time, but it was perfect. Wish I'd a bought 50 of them now.

So - if you put an $8000 grille shell on a 32, is it worth $8000 more? That makes repops look pretty good!

Silly, you don't PUT an $8000 grill on a deuce. You HAVE SOMEONE INSTALL an $8000 grill on a deuce.

What was I thinking? Anyone who spends 8 g's on a grille will have someone else put it on. Those two guys trying to buy it must be related to the guy selling the 354 Hemi on ebay for $15,000!

No, as soon as you tighten the first screw, your grill shell ceases to be NOS and drops about $6,000 in value! You gotta install it and its original box into a nitrogen filled refrigerated vault, right by your comic book collection and unopened case of "Billy" beer.

I quit buying these things in the early '70's, when crazy inflation and the streetrod fad pushed prices beyond $35 in some cases. Just found 6 or 7 under my front porch...guess I could double my money, huh?

I'd better act fast--it's clear that prices will plummet as soon as someone brings out a good repro, just like they did with roadster and 3w bodies!

better double you money and sell those 'under the porch' ones for $150 while you can..... LOL

I had a NOS Deuce sheel and insert............sold it recently because I would NEVER put it on a car I owned....for that same reason.... BUT HE BOUGHT IT........ :D REALLY bought it..... :D :D

Getting my 32 3W running ranks higher on the priority list than owning a bunch of parts I cannot drive.......so I have sold some stuff..... :( But I will be riding fairly soon.....

I rememebr a few years ago there was a post on here about a duece grill on ebay that looked like it was peppered with buckshot selling for a rediculas price!!
Theres something wrong with society when people pay 8K for a grill!! it hard to believe that people ahve that much extra cash to spend on something worth $650 at the most!!!!

I paid $85 bucks for one a couple of years ago at the woodlands swapmeet @ 5am. I thought that it was not worth it, but the ****ers on Epay told me different. Oh yea, I bought a beat to hell roadster door for $10. I still have some of the parts for it, but I p***ed it on to a HAMBer in need a couple of years back. Pay it forward......and it will come back to you when you need something for the HAMB.

  24. I had a guy ask me about filling the hole in his original Grill shell about 5 years ago. I went over to his house and I saw the most perfect un touched 32 grill shell I have ever seen, I started to go week in the knees when he asked me to weld up the stock radiator hole and I told him I would like to buy him a new Brookville grill shell and trade him.

He said he was having a hard time getting one form Brookville and said if I could get one he would gladly trade me.

Well I just happened to have one and made a deal to trade with him. I also spent some time making the Repo fit his car along with the stainless band, that I had to make all the provitions for it to work with the repo part.

Everyone was happy and I now have a grill shell that is almost too nice to use.

But I will put it on a car someday.

As far as the most expensive one I have seen, It was $1800.00 and it sold:eek:

This might be a dumb question, but here goes. Why does anyone pay that much for an original grill shell when you can buy the complete Brookville shell with insert, trim, etc, for less than $800?

You said you had to make the Brookville fit. What was the hangup with fit?

There was one at a local indoor swap a couple years ago that had a price of 1400 on it.
It didn't sell while i was there, but there was a lot of interest.
There were a couple at the Syracuse nats a couple years back as well that were both over 1000, and both rough..
And they were also both gone by saturday if i can remember correctly..
