I'd like to know what's done and love to see build pics. Always interesting to see if there is any ideas I can steal. And for the rocord I don't care what it costs or if it was worth it. I'm only in it for the fun.

Normally, I would call ********- but since its been do***ented and everything, well. Sorry, I can't- what a bunch of ********. You could have Darien build you a complete ****ing A/ Fuel motor for that. Fuel System, Ignition, everthing for 60k. And it would REALLY sound like a dragster. Trust me.

Maybe he had the motor rebuilt in Mexico and he is referring to Pesos?

Was it a doctor, lawyer or celebrity that built it?

I'd love to see the breakdown of where that money went. I have looked at those pictures a bunch of times and just don't see anything that looks anywhere near that exotic or expensive. It would be damned hard to spend $60K on a fourbanger.

The other thing that is odd is that the rest of the car is a little rough, like the radiator. If I were spending $60K on a motor I would have spent a few bucks on the other stuff too.

All I know is taht if I spent 60k on an engine it would be clean as a whistle without all that dust on it everywhere.

    This shows me 2 things:
    (1) Rich people are dumber than poor people
    (2) Money can't buy common sense

    60 large.
    Break that down...
$10K for the head, $20K for the reciprocating ***embly (custom-made pistons, rods, crank, rings and bearings), $10K for the valve train (saved a ton of money on not having to buy rocker arms or a valve cover!), $10K for the induction and ignition, and another $10K for the block prep, brackets, starter, and misc.
    That sound about right?

PT Barnum was right. And in this case, the ****er was either the guy who stroked that check, or the kid he told "That's a $60,000 engine."

I try not to jump on threads like this... but if it is indeed true I feel like it's a pretty huge waste of money. If you gave 60K to one of the banger LSR guys they'd get the thing over 200 mph, easily, and have $ left over for beer drinking at the bend.

I am in no way saying that numbers right but having built a Model A motor for my car you can build a decent small block Chevy for what it costs to build one. Im talking about $1500-1800 here though, not 60 large. Im including finding & magnifluxing 6 blocks to get a good one, new everything in it and the boring & babbit pouring. maybe the rest is cocaine hidden in the oil pan

All I can say is running hard lines for the fuel doesn't show me anything, wait till it cracks and sets everything on fire...............60k up in flames........

Another case of 'just because you can doesn't mean you should...'.

  16. For $60,000.00 I would expect something that looks more like this . . .

Wow, $60k? Sounds like there was a "Banger" and a "Bangee".

Does anyone know if this is the op's motor or he built it or what the deal is? Seems pointless to debate about if he isn't gonna answer any questions.

  21. Maybe he did spend $60k - but I'd expect something that looked nicer for that money. Things like the way the hardlines are run, the fasteners used, the wiring, the zip ties (they look like zip ties) and the odd mix of vintage and modern bits just don't speak high dollar to me. Maybe it's meant to look like it was thrown together and the surprise is that it's kicking out 250bhp....

And I'm over here trying to sneek out $250 from the wife to buy a polished Winfield aluminum head for my banger.

You guys crack me up - just because someone posts a totally unsubstantiated claim that $60k was spent on the motor without a single invoice or shred of evidence, y'all buy into the fairy tale??? I guess you can fool some of the people some of the time. Let's see substantiated and independently verified do***entation, bank receipts, checks etc. But I guess it must be true - after all it is on the internet....

Do***entry paper work isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Anyone with a computer can generate paper work to show he owns
a dozen of those engines and has a billion dollars in the bank.
I say it's BS till I see what it will do on the dyno. (and even that can be faked)

If there is $60,000 in that motor, someone should open it up and grab all that cash.
