    GREAT STORY....

In looking over the invoice notice the am/fm radio option? That was pretty rare back then. In the GM world (GTOs) they only became available in the 1963 full size Pontiac models.

That was neat that you were able to track it down. Your rite about the time frame gas crisis etc being about the same age as you I bought and sold alot of GTOs and Mopars in the late 1970s that people where dumping....plus the octane levels in fuel were dropping making it hard to keep the cars from pinging.

Your Dad made some smart buys back in the day great you got to enjoy them and take photos......all good memories I am sure.

Doesn't exactly qualify as a car, but I got to drive an M48 Tank once. Probably cost us taxpayers a few hunderd thou.

I'm not sure which one was more expensive... Lamborghini Countach, Lotus Esprit twin turbo (sp?), and a Ferrari 400M. With size 13 shoe's the Lamborgini's interior/floor room was a joke.

1990 Corvette ZR1. 1st year of them. Got to drive it in 1991 when it was just a year old.
Nice and quick around the corners, straight line was a little faster than my 1972 Lemans.

Nice car. And it was a company car! lol

    kirban 2 cents worth

Nope on the car guess. Car was made in the mid to late 1950s time frame and was a foreign car and we elminated cars from Britain.

    The game continues....

Funny story on them....GM originally did a poster for the ZR1 and it listed the model year as 1989. (A screw up)...

I owned one of the 2 test vehicles that GMC built, the Syclone....had as the license plate ZRl KLR Syclone came out Winter of 1991.....4.3 turbocharged all wheel drive platform.

I do have to say, it was a really nice car. Very comfortable, but just something I couldn't quite afford at 20 years old.

IIRC, wasn't it the first year that they put in the ride select button?

Nothing as cool as the cars the rest of you have posted, but I worked at a hotel in Britain for a while and the most expensive two were a Ferrari f40 and a Lambo diablo.
Agree with hotrod56 - not a lot of room inside. driving on slippery cobbled streets with fogged up windows had a high pucker factor.

a few other goodies were various Rolls Royces, and a couple of bentley turbos (they were my favourites, amazing torque and so comfortable) and others like Mercedes, v12 jags, bmw 850 etc.
Would prefer a 29 roadster with a 283 and a 4 speed over any of them though.

I've also helmed a £250,000 yacht -14 tons and no brakes focuses your mind.

I just rented a Hertz Corvette for a week last month, so, that's gotta be it for me.

  16. I can't compete with all of these exotic cars but the rarest one which is worth more than I can afford now would be just a 55 Ford Crown Victoria Glasstop,or a 67 Ford Fairlane 427 Tunnel port super stock.

  17. As part of a car club I used to be in, for several years we participated in moving cars for a couple of different classic car auctions. I got to drive a 1929 Duesenberg across the block, which then (late '90s) was a $1.5M car. The seller was sitting next to me! I was a little nervous, but it was a lot of fun!

I've driven several exotics in the $250K to $500K range. When the musclecar rage was going gang-busters, what were $20K cars suddenly became $200K cars, and I'd driven lots of those.

Far as my own personal cars, I'd have to say the 1969 Dodge Dart GTS 440 car I had in 1988-89 was the most valuable car I've ever owned. Sold it then for a near-record $18K, and these days, they go for $250K and more.

  18. That is about thirty fucking different kinds of annoying:mad:

Friend's Columbia 400 airplane, around 500K is more that I will ever have for anything. 4 wheel, probably a 3 year old NASCAR ride at Atlanta Speedway. Not sure which was more fun.

Yep that is the car..wonderful history and runs out pretty good... handles nice too.

Oh and my bad. The last car was a 1955 Maserati 300c ...pretty cool. Had a shit eating grin from ear to ear .

It's fun to go 100+ MPH and look up underneath semi trailers.

I would have to say it was a 29 Model "A" Ford for me. Not just any "regular" Model "A" though. I have a good friend with a rather large original Model "A" collection. Almost 10 years ago he bought the "A" to finish his collection. A Town Car. The one with the open drivers compartment for the Cheuffeur. Probably the most deluxe Model "A" built. Being 16 I was surprised he let me drive it. Told me he wanted to see what it was like to ride in the back and be drove around. Most Model "A" town cars are locked up super tight, he drives his all the time. That was probably the most expensive car I ever drove.

Not sure on ride select...I have owned a 1995 and 196 C4 Corvettes in the past. Some of those gizmos in those C4s were real headaches....my gas gauge sometimes would not work heater/ac blower worked sometimes and other times not at all.

  27. Well, didn't get to drive them but when I was 18 I worked in a restoration shop. I was allowed to work on a 55 Mercedes gullwing, 41 Packard Darrin, 31 Caddillac v-12 Roadster, 29 Rolls Royce Coupe, 31 Packard Touring. If I had my pick I'd take the Mercedes. I hand stripped it with a DA it was an aluminum body it had 13 different colors of paint on it. Most expensive car was I guess the 33 Willys I had with a blown 427, $50K in it.

    Attached Files:

  28. Eddie Mecum let me drive a Shelby GT500, a Pantera and I got to sit in a running Scarab! I was a teen age kid, what the hell was he thinking?! There was a 427 tri power Vette and a couple hemi Road Runners.

  29. A Rolls Silver shadow. what a fine automobile.

I post on several forums and don;t pay any attention to number of posts etc....I do have an interesting one called early hurst history which is very informative.

I try and make my posts fun and informative no other motive....

If everyone is done guessing I will tell the answer shortly.

As to reasons why I start my posts with the same greeting its a thing of habit because on certain threads I run on various forums I post photos problem is, I have no idea how to download photos from camera to computer to forums so I have another member do that for me. Naturally his info shows up which can confuse readers so that is why I use that kirban 2 cents intro....obviously, I am not posting photos here so I won't use that intro.

Life is too short to look for issues and problems....its fun for me.
