By the way Hambers clic any Hambers red link above and select Featured Threads and most of their build Threads will be another clic away...well worth it because the archives are incredibly valuable and inspiring...

  2. A couple that were memorable, but frustratingly unfinished were the poorman’ three window and beetle deuce.

Daylate, you are 100% correct on those 2. I follwed both with bated breath, and then they vanished.

While that's extremely nice of you to say, and I really do appreciate the compliment, I'm not sure any of my threads quite stand up to some of the other ones listed here. I usually start out with the best of intentions with a build thread but I get too excited to make progress and I forget to take pictures and document the process along the way.

The really good ones have pictures and updates throughout the whole build, I've learned a ton from reading those over the years.

My personal favorites are the ones that start out with basically garbage, and I love to see cars come together on a shoestring budget. One that comes to mind but I can't think of the guy's name is a Model A roadster painted red with a brush that says "camsnappers" on it. That one was great for those exact reasons.

Yes Squablow, I understand everyone here handles their Threads as best they can, this is in essence a garage where great things happen...I love the diversity...you built that...I can't unstuck perfection out of my head...;)

Thank you and everyone for doing their best, that's what matters...

    Thank You Hambers!!!

That's the one! I like it because it really came together from nothing, pretty purpose-built to do that race and it actually got there and did it.

On the far other end of the spectrum is Royalshifter's replica of the Wes Collins 34 Ford which I also love, this is probably the car I'd most like to emulate but I don't have the budget to do it this way.

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/wes-collins-1934-roadster-tribute.1188629/

Both great builds and it's pretty cool that either of these cars can be shown here and get the credit they deserve even when they're so vastly different.

Just one of many build threads I’ve enjoyed is @The39guys’ 40 Ford coupe build.
Highly detailed and photo heavy, this thread read as a tutorial of problem solving and attention to detail. Thank you Sam and Don .

Life is unpredictable Jim, we almost lost you...so glad you are still with us...let's just say they did their best and left inspiration and memories that many times that will outlast us...you're truly an inspiration...;)

Sometimes they make a return...which is heartwarming many times...

  16. So many incredible builds & builders here, don't know where to start. But a very special kickstart to my heart does for example Quentin (CadMad) with his visions and there fullfillment:

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/39-cadillac-custom.937692/

and the work Steve (DirtyNapkin) did is pure and perfect to me to come out as a subtle and just wonderful custom with his 1940 Buick 'Pamela':

  20. I'm more of a "remodeler" than a builder. Haven't built my own Hotrod yet. I like to find cars that are as close to what I want as possible, then change a few things. Much cheaper that way, haha.

  22. While I’m in awe of the high quality “perfect” builds, the low budget home builds hit home for me as that’s what I build.

It's a form of collaboration in a way...The Hotrod I have is a Third generation from it's original configuration with the 2nd generation and my mods being very few and generally a collaborative effort in nod to the Original theme...you had several that come to mind...the Merc, an A Coupe, the 38 pickup and 666...It's a form of a journey and yes involving varying degrees of mechanical and visual change...I consider it a form of Art...really...so many of you have the canvas in your mind and it appears...many say Hotrods were purpose built...I still believe that evolved with an artistic lean as time went on...

Daniel Shircliffs build of the Dickinson Coupe (Tucumcari NM.)
The cool thing - it can be a 1950s car with all polished Moons or
a 1960s street racer with cheaters in the back.

Dr. Malacarne's "Levithian" powered by a V-12 Seagrave was pretty cool.
